Doil Ray "Shorty" Powell, 81, of Alvaton died at 7:21 p.m. May 8, 2005, at Greenview Regional Hospital.
The Logan County native was a retired heavy equipment operator from the Warren County Road Department, a retired farmer and a member of Friendship Community Church. He was a son of the late Virgil Orvil Powell and Tempie Bumpus Powell. He was preceded in death by a sister, Virgil Sanson; a twin sister, Dorothy Hall; and two brothers, Lawrence Powell and John William Powell.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel, with burial in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m today at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Dellinger Powell; two sons, Jerry Powell and his wife Elizabeth, and Jimmy Powell, all of Bowling Green; a granddaughter, Amber Powell; a grandson, Dustin Powell; and several nieces and nephews." On 10 May 2005 at
