Source: This information was transmitted by computer modem to modem communications from a Virgina resident who has one of a very limited number of copies of "Pioneer Recollections." The accuracy would naturally need further documentation, as it is narrative that was given as recollection and recorded as such in "Pioneer Recollections." However, checking other sources, it holds close to the line of events listed in these other sources, such as that recorded by the Works Projects Administration pilot project listing family histories in various geographical areas. The author is not specified, nor the publisher. "Pioneer Collections" was published in total of 512 copies. One might find a copy at the Dickenson County Library in Dickenson County, Virginia.

VIERS, AILSY (KISER)
NAISLY (KISER) VIERS...Near Lebanon, Virginia
"I was born at the mouth of Priest Fork of Frying Pan, Jun 8, 1861. My parents were John and Sylvia (Burchett) Kiser. My father lived there two years before their marriage. Uncle Ab Kiser had built the house there first and had then sold out to my father, and then Uncle Ab moved down to the Andy Edwards place near Sand Lick. All of my parents children were born at the mouth of Priest Fork. My father died October , 1886, and he was seventy when he died. My two oldest children died of flux on October 4, 1886, while we lived on Big Ridge. My father came to see them, and he thought he took the flux there. He went back home and lived about two weeks. He was buried in the edge of an old field on the hill east of the house. Mother was buried there, too. Mother was born in North Carolina. I've heard her say she remembered crossing Blue Ridge as a baby on the trip to this section. I have no picture of my father, nor do I know of any in existence. I have a picture of Mother. My parents' children were: Andrew J., Polly, Elihu, Fullen, Elizabeth, Ailsy, Rachel, John and Noah L. My husband's name is FLOYD VIERS. Here is our Bible with the Family Record in it (NOTE BY E.J.S.: I then made a copy of this Family Record)."

MARY JANE VIERS married Randolph Cannady. NOTE BY H.S.S. 1-23-1976: Beulah Arrington Lyall, Clintwood, Virginia, called my attention to statemnt by Merled Arrington in the Cumberland Times (Thursday, January 15, 1976) that RACHEL VIERS married, the second time, Brice Madison Arrington, son of Lewis and Sarah (Edwards) Arrington (her first cousin). It was also his second marriage. Their only child was Emaline Arrington (married Frank Rose). Beulah added to this statement the fact that Brice Madison Arrington was her paternal grandfather. She had know that his second wife's name was Rachel, but not who she was before marriage to Brice M. Arrington. She further confirmed the statement that their only child was Emaline Arrington who married Frank Rose, stating that Frank Rose was a brother of Millard Rose and Mary (Rose) Speer (Mrs. Bruce Speer). Recollections of Mrs. Millard F. Rose dated May 2, 1929 show they were children of Swinfield and Elizabeth (Robinson) Rose. Mrs. Millard F. Rose (Sarah Rose) was a daughter of John E. Rose, brother of Swinfield. She and Millard F. Rose were first cousins."

VIA, SAMUEL married Hetty Edwards
Source: Franklin County Marriage Records 1786-1858 on page 231. Their wedding date was Oct. 30, 1826. The book Mountain Legacy by Gayle Fuller Stanley discusses Samuel James Viers and Hetty Edwards Viers on page 57. The Gayle Fuller Stanley book lists Samuel Via and Hetty Edwards children as Lewis, Mary Jane, Rachel, Isaac, Larkin, Louisa, and Joseph. She also lists ISAAC VIERS as marrying Lucy Wood. She only lists 8 of Isaac and Lucy's children however the 1880 Census of Sandlick District Buchanan County (became Dickenson County) recorded June 15, 1880, lines 12 thru 25 lists Isaac and Lucy and 12 children. (cited sources provided by David Viers-a direct descendant and researcher). NOTE: This family uses a number of spellings within their line: VIA, VIAR, VIERS.
