VIA-�The following is a brief account of the Maupin family (which started with commentary on two brothers, Daniel and Gabriel) ...Gabriel died in 1794. He seems to have lived in the vicinity of Free Union. His wife's name was Marah, and Thomas, Bland, Daniel and Gabriel were names of his sons. The truth is, the families of this stock were generally so numerous, containing hard-ly ever less than ten, and sometimes thirteen children, and the same names were so often repeated in the different households, that it would be well nigh impossible at this date to make out an accurate statement of their lines of descent. They frequently intermarried among themselves, and with the Harrises, Farmans and VIAS, and their descendeants are widely scattered over the West, particularly in Kentucky and Missouri. They seem to have been in their generations an industrious, quiet, unambitious people. They have usually been attached to the Methodist Church....

NANCY VIERS-"George CLARK married NANCY VIERS and migrated from Maryland to Lewis County, Kentucky prior to 1818. She was the daughter of William VIERS and Mary RICKETTS of Montgomery County, Maryland and her brothers Edward VIERS (a school teacher) and William VIERS were in Lewis County, Kentucky in 1810. The known children of George CLARK and Nancy VIERS were Levi CLARK (born in Kentucky on February 1, 1818, married first to Mary BAYLESS in Brown County, Ohio in 1837 {she died in 1860}, served in the Tenth Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry during the Civil War, married second to Mary Jane KILGORE in Mason County, Kentucky in 1864, and died May 1, 1903 in Lewis County, Kentucky), George CLARK, Jr., Nancy CLARK, and James CLARK."

VIERS, CHARLES
B.J. VIERS, farmer, P.O. Hudson; is a son of Charles and Laura (Patterson) Viers. Charles Viers was born in Jefferson Co., N.Y. in 1806, and was married to Laura Patterson in 1827. She was born in Vermont in 1810. He was the son of a farmer and pioneer of Jefferson Co., and subject to the toil and privation of that life from his childhood. After his marriage, he farmed in that county for some years, and then emigrated to Ohio, settling in Northfield Township in 1831, where he still resides. His wife died in October, 1877. Their children are as follows: Bazzel J.; Theda E. Holt, of Northfield; Eliza J., the widow of of George Lamb now the wife of A.N. Ozmun, of Boston Township; Samantha, deceased; Charles Albert, of Hudson, and Laura M., deceased. Our subject was born in Jefferson Co., N.Y., in 1829; he remained with his parents until 20 years of age, receiving a common-school education. He taught school one winter, at the age of 19. His occupation for many years subsequently was that of a laborer. About 1864, he began farming operations for himself, purchasing a piece of wild land, which he cleared and worked for two years, when he diposed of it and bought land in Norton Township, farming there about seven years. In 1874, he purchased a tract of land where he now resides, in Boston Township. His farm consist of 218 acres of improved land, located upon the nstate road." Mr. Viers is a practical and industrious farmer, and stands high in his township and county. He was married, in November, 1856, to Miss Lovena Ford, daughter of Marvin Ford of Northampton. She was born in Northampton in 1839. They have eight children living, and one deceased (Clara A., died at 6 years of age)-Laura E., Marvin F., Charles E., Lydia A., Albert B., Linda M., Rose I. and Lillie I. (twins).
