Notes for Theron Harry Hanes:
Birth Records recorded in the "DeKalb Birth Records."
"Miss Wilmet Haines, Theron Haines and Miss Joy Ernest of Goshen, and Mr. and Mrs. Clark Shepherd of Ashley, were Sunday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dirrim and family." This is from the Hamilton News, June 27, 1941.
In the Hamilton New, April 25, 1941, it says, "Mrs. Joe Williamson and daughter, Mary Lou, of Auburn, and Theron and Wilmet Haines of Goshen were Sunday guests of Harry Dirrim and family."
In the Waterloo Press, during WW2, Theron (along with a lot of other soldiers) had a letter printed. It was in the papers that Theron gave me. "V MAIL LETTERS FROM THE WAR AND NAVY From Sgt. Theron Hanes Dear Editor: I have been receiving your paper for several week now, and am appreciating it very much. It sure brightens the day here in the E.T.O. to hear from the folks back home. Thanks very much. We have been attached to the 8th Air Force since last summer, and hope that the small part we have played will hasten the end of this chaos and we will al get back i the good U.S. before too may years have elapsed. Well I must stop for now, and in thanking you again I remain, Yours Truly, Red Hanes."
