Abner Baldwin Curran Death Notice in New York Times
Abner Baldwin Curran - Death Notice

Abner Baldwin Curran, the son of William Curran and Emily Jane (Martin) Curran, died a few days short of age 26 on Tuesday, October 3, 1874, in New York, NY.

The New York Times death notice displayed in the image below indicates that Abner B. Curran was the son of William B. Lowery and Emily J. Lowery. His mother, Emily Jane (Martin) Curran married William Benjamin Lowery after the death of her first husband, William Curran. It would appear that Abner Curran did not take the surname of his step-father. Other documents, including the family Bible, tend to support the fact that Abner continued to use the Curran name after his mother's second marriage.
