PETER CARRICO
left France for America abt 1700. After a stormy voyage, suffering shipwreck enroute, he landed in Maryland, and settled in Charles Co. He made deeds to land in Charles Co. Md., 1707, 1731 [1730 to Abel; 1730 to Keyth], 1745, & died in 1765-his will dated April 14, 1764, proved Oct. 18, 1765, mentions wife Margaret & sons 5 sons.  He was brother-in-law to Joseph Gates of Charles Co.

ABEL CARRICO
(Tradition says he was a French Huguenot) said to have been one of three brothers who came from France. He first lived in Charles Co. Md.; made deeds there 1730, 1736, 1738, 1758 [1758 to Biggs; 1758 to Simms].  In the 1755 (1785) Cencus of Virginia, he was head of a family of "9 (nine) white souls" in Fairfax Co. Tradition says he was a man of small stature.  He died while on a visit at the home of his son Rev. William, and was buried there in Grayson Co. Va.
He was not mentioned in his fathers will in 1764 but was living at that time.
    (This line Protestant as far as known)
      m. Miss KENT, "in the Valley of Virginia."

[2] JOHN CARRICO
mentioned in his fathers will 1765. Probably the John Carrico who was in the Revolutionary War, in Col. Hutchinson's Mass. Reg. (37th Continental) also in the Navy, receiving prize money for service on the BonHome Richard under John Paul Jones & other service. The identy is still somewhat confused.

[2] JAMES CARRICO
date of birth not known. Inherited by his Father's will a tract of land in Charles Co. Md. (1765) known as "Carrico's Hope" possession to be had at his mothers death. "James Carrico of Peter" died intestate 1803 in Charles. In the administration accounts the name is spelled "Carricoe". The executor was Henry Montgomery.  His wife survived but name not mentioned.

Note: The 11 children of James "Carricoe" Sr. inherited when his estate (dying intestate) was settled in Charles Co, Md. 1803. It was shown that Vincent and Tabitha recieved their portion during the lifetime of their father.

[2] JANE CARRICO
said to have come with brothers from France. Not mentioned in fathers will. m. John MOORE, an English officer sent to America to transact business with George Washington. He m. her & and did not return to England. A brother of Thomas Moore, the poet.  She supposed to have been killed by Indians.  The above all tradition. No records yet found.

[2] THOMAS IGNATIUS CARRICO
b. Charles Co. Maryland, 1740; d. in KY 1812 in Harden Co. Bought livestock in Washington Co. Md. (formally a part of Prince George's Co. [Washington from Frederick in 1776; Frederick from Prince George's in 1748]) in 1792, 1793, 1794, bought land there in 1797, 1803; sold land there 1804 - last record of him in that Co. Was Road Supervisor there in 1803.  He was listed in the First Cencus of U.S. in 1790 in Washington Co. Md. as "head of a family of 2 free white males, 16 yrs of age or over, 5 free white males under 16; 1 free white females; & 6 slaves." From Md. he removed to Washington Co. Ky, and later to Harden & Mead Co. Ky. took oath of loyalty and support Montgomery Co. Md. 1778. Mentioned in his father's will 1764. Listed in 1775-1778 Cencus of Prince George Co. Md. with wife & children as follows: " Ignatius Carrico age 35, Elizabeth age 35, 3 boys age 6, 2, 1, & 2 girls age 7 & 4 & 2 female slaves age 19 & 3.
    m. Miss KIRBY in Md.

[2] PETER CARRICO JR
he made a deed to Peter Carrico Sr. in Charles Co. Md. in 1764. Not mentioned in his father's will. Perhaps the Peter Carrico listed in First Cencus of the U.S. as residing in Montgomery Co. Md. in 1790?

(no records found) Mentioned in his fathers will 1765 Charles Co. Md.

[2] BASIL CARRICO
b. in Md. he listed in first Cencus of U.S. 1790 as head of a family in Washington Co. Md. Mentioned in father's will in 1764 in Charles Co. Md. He sold slaves in 1792 & 1794 Washington Co. Md. removed to Washington Co. Ky. From thence to Hardin and Mead Co.'s Ky.
