Joseph Hotchkiss was born 15 Feb 1724/5 according to the East Haven vital records. (1) His father died when he was 15 and on 22 Jun 1741 Joseph received £428.17.08 worth of goods from his father's estate. Among the items were the dwelling house and farm adjoining, plus pasture land adjoining that, plus some cattle, etc. (2) Joseph married Esther Russell around 1756 and they had at least 9 children.. (3) He died of consumption on 27 Apr 1776 at the age of 51. (4)
