Name of CHinese ancestor

My ancestor became John Mann when he was naturalised, his certificate says his name was John Ja and he was born in Amoy. He was a 'shepherd' and married a Scottish woman in Maryborough Q in 1863. Any suggestions about his name? I wonder if it might have been Jia but a list of donors in an early maryborough chronicle also suggests it could have been Man!
