The Mulherns and Raffertys of Lawrence County, Ohio
Gage (?) (F) (circa 1798 - ) Last Edited=16 May 2005 Gage (?) was born circa 1798 in Holland.1 Gage married Henry De Young.1 They had at least 6 children. On the 1850 census, 4 other children were living with them but based on the ages and the way they were written on the census, I suspect that they are Henry and Gage's nieces and nephews. Their known children are:, Maria, Lopka, Elizabeth, Jan, Ellen and Mina.1 The family immigrated sometime between 1844 and 1849 to United States of America; The family immigrated sometime between 1844 and 1849 to the United States of America.2
Henry, age 51, and Gage, age 52, were enumerated on the 1850 Federal Census in Thornton Township, Cook County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Maria (age 21), Lopka (age 20), Elizabeth (age 19), Jan (age 17), Mina and Ellen (age 16), and an unknown person (age 12). Several other children were enumerated in the household (Jacob De Young, Kira, Peter and Henry ) but I do not believe they are Henry's children; perhaps Henry and Gage are their uncle and aunt. The farm is worth $100.1 Follow the link to see the census image. Henry, age 60, and Hattie, age 61, were enumerated on the 1860 Federal Census in Thornton, Cook County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Jacob (age 27), Peter (age 20 something), Mina (age 22) and Henry (age 17). There is also an 11 year-old, John Shilling, living in the house. His relationship to the family is not known.3 Follow the link to see the census image.
