     Cornelius Charles Madderom was born on 10 June 1893 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.1 He was the son of Cornelius Klaus Madderom and Antje Kuijper.2
          Due to a need for men to serve during World War I, the United States instituted a draft. The first registration was for men between the ages of 21 and 31. As a result, this first registration included men born between June 5, 1886 and June 5, 1896. Cornelius filled out a draft card on 5 June 1917 in Chicago. He was described as having a medium build and tall height. He had gray eyes and brown hair. He was married but his wife's name is not given. She and their 3 week old son were solely dependent upon him for support.1 Cornelius worked as a coal yard manager at C.K. Madderom Coal at 355 W. 112th Street in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.1 Cornelius was living at 114 W. 104th Street in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.1 Cornelius died in January 1968 in Holland, Ottawa County, Michigan.2 He was 74 old.
