Wilbur.of Dryden who had 4 sons and 1 dau who became his step-children. They are J.U. and Ira E. Wilbur, Mrs. Eugene Haines of Dryden; Hiatt of Columbia S.D; and A.O. of Metamora. Deceased buried Whigville cem., Dryden Twp.

Allen Hosner died on 4-Apr-1910 at Dryden Twp., Lapeer County, Michigan, at age 85.
      ALLEN HOSNER. Among the worthy sons of New York who have made their home in Dryden township, Lapeer County, and have here displayed the excellent farming qualities which have distinguished the agriculturists of the empire State, we are pleased to mention Mr. Hosner, who was born in Clarkson Township, Monroe County, N. Y., September 5, 1824. his father, Hugh Hosner, was born and reared in Pennsylvania and was married in Cayuga county, n. Y., to Hannah Snyder, of that State. Until they came to Michigan in 1833 they lived in Clarkson Township, Monroe /county, N. Y. Upon reaching Macomb County, Mr. Hosner bought one hundred acres of improved land, upon which he resided until his death at the age of sixty four. He was a Democrat in his political convictions and a man highly respected in this vicinity. The mother lived to reach the age of eighty-four, and of her thirteen children ten drew to manhood and womanhood, our subject being the eleventh in order of age. Allen Hosner was fifteen years old when he came West and finished his schooling in Bruce township, Macomb County, Having started in life for himself at the age of twelve he was not educating himself. Jane Schanck, the eldest daughter of David and Ella (Sutphen) Schanck, became his wife February 5, 1845. She was born February 14, 1826, and had her birth in New York where she remained until she was seven years old. After spending some time laboring by the month in Bruce township Mr. Hosner removed in 1849 to his present location, the property then having on it no improvements except a small log house 15X18 feet. In this humble home there gathered two daughters and one son, namely: Orrin G., who married Hannah Miller and reside in Oakland County, upon a farm; Eva, wife of Richard Whitbeck who resides in Eaton ?county, Mich., and Retta, Mrs. George Kintz.
He of whom we write this sketch has an excellent farm of two hundred and sixty acres, which is now well improved, and he at one time owned four hundred acres but since that time has sold and bought again and given to his children until he now has only the number of acres just mentioned. He has placed upon this property all the improvements to be seen there now, as there was not a road on the place when he took it. In those days he worked his farm with an ox-team and had all the experience of a pioneer. He is now prosperously doing a general farming business. Mr. Hosner is a Republican in his political convictions and was Justice of the Peace for four years when he was a young man and has also been Highway commissioner, school director, and constable. He is a member of the Third Methodist Church in Dryden township and has been connected with that church since 1850. He is now Steward and local preacher, preaching at Attica, Dryden, Metamora and Whigville with good success. He has contributed to the building of the church giving $500 toward this object and has helped to build every church within ten miles of his home. He has been a successful worker in the Sunday-school.

      Orin G. Hosner was born in Jun-1850 at Michigan. He was the son of Allen Hosner and Jane Schenck. Orin married Hannah Miller on 4-May-1881 at Dryden, Lapeer County, Michigan. Orin G. Hosner died on 4-Jul-1915 at Oakland County, Michigan, at age 65.

      Eva I. Hosner was born circa 1848 at Michigan. She was the daughter of Allen Hosner and Jane Schenck. Eva married Richard Whitbeck.

Charles A. Schanck, P.O. Romeo, was born August 7, 1843 in Bruce, Macomb Co., he is the son of David and Ellen (Sutphen) Schanck; his parents were born in Monmouth Co. N.J., respectively Dec. 1, 1798 and October 6, 1807; they died in Bruce, Jan. 21, 1867, and Nov. 17, 1876. William and Anna Sutphen, Mr. Schanck’s grandparents, were natives of New Jersey; the latter was born about 1783, in Monmouth Co., and died in Wayne Co., MI. November 24, 1853; the former died September 7, 1847, in Macomb Co., MI. David Schanck went from New Jersey to Wayne Co. and Monroe Co, in New York, where he spent several years, and about 1834, came to Michigan and settled in Washtenaw County; eight years later, he located in Bruce, Macomb Co. He and his wife were married in Wayne Co. N.Y. and had eleven children, ten of whom are now living, born as follows: Jane, Feb. 26, 1826; Mary, March 30, 1828, died Oct. 10, 1829; John Jan 9, 1830; Martha A., Sept. 6, 1831; Elizabeth June 17, 1833; William H. June 2, 1835; George, Feb.10, 1838;’ Ally M., March 3, 1839; Sarah A., Sept 14, 1841; Charles A. August 7, 1843; Lydia D. May 22, 1845. When David Schanck settled in Bruce he bought eighty acres of land on Section 30, and afterward purchased sixty-five acres across the road on Section 19, where the dwelling stands in which he died.
