Sudden Death -
This community was shocked, last Monday afternoon to learn that Mrs J. E. Ward of this city had suddenly dropped dead. It appears that Mrs Ward had been somewhat unwell for two or three days, was not considered at all dangerous. On Monday she was up and around the house and about 1 o'clock her daughter who was in an adjoining room, heard her mother fall; on attempting to open the door it was discovered that Mrs Ward was lying against it. Mr Ward was called, the door pushed open and Mrs W. picked up and laid on the bed, but she never breathed again. Apoplexy is supposed to have been the cause of the death. She was 53 yrs of age and was one of the most estimable ladies in the city. She was a devout Christian and her loss will be severely felt. Mr Ward and his family have the earnest sympathy of a large circle of friends. Mrs W. was buried on Tuesday afternoon the funeral sermon will preached next Sunday at 11 o'clock.
