Cool wind.

Joe staid all day and got up wood. I do not feel very good.

Lida came over did not stop long.




Monday January 2, 1922


16 below.

Bright and pleasant but cold. I did not go out much. Joe came and foddered sheep.

Mail carrier did not go today.

I wrote Pansie a letter today.




Tuesday January 3, 1922


Some cloudy, chilly, cold.

I cut and made Charlie a pair of mittens today.

Joe went over to Abbies and plaid cards this evening. I sit up and kept the fire.




Wednesday January 4, 1922


Pleasant very (comfrtiable) till night then snow.

I had no mail.

I wrote Mrs. Pike a letter and sent her to day.




Thursday January 5, 1922


Raint some of the time. Rainted hard.

Joe did not go home today. I did not go out to barn. I sewed some.

I had no mail today.




Friday January 6, 1922


Pleasant. Cloudy at night.

Joe went and got Lida, took her over to Wilsons home.

I made pies.




Saturday January 7, 1922


Pleasant.

Lida over just a few minutes.




Sunday January 8, 1922


Pleasant and bright.

Bennie came over and helped Joe saw some wood.

Charlie took 2 dozen eggs and 2 bushel apples to mines came to $5.




Monday January 9, 1922


Cloudy some. Snowed a bit.

Abbie over a jif.

I finished writing Jennie and sent it today.

Charlie came at night got some logs to take to Bethel tomorrow.




Tuesday January 10, 1922


Pleasant.

Joe went to village with Charlie.

Bennie came up and watered and took Maude up. Joe took clock to fix today. He paid rent $9. $1 for courier.

He got 1 pound coffee.

I had a letter from California and a handkerchief.




Wednesday January 11, 1922


Stormy and dretful rough.

I washed some sheets but did not hang them out. Rough night.

The roughest night we had this winter.




Thursday January 12, 1922


Stormed some, snow looks deep. No track nor mail carrier today.

Joe did not go home.

Cold day.




Friday January 13, 1922


Bright and pleasant.

I hung out my sheets today.

Kent came today no track only as he made it. Joe went and helped him, stoped at Abbie’s.

Courier came today, no letters.

I cut out a pair of mittens today and made Joe a pair socks.

Joe did not go home.




Saturday January 14, 1922


They broke out today.

Stoddard went with snow plough.

We had no mail only New England Homestead today.

Joe went home afoot.




Sunday January 15, 1922


Rough windy windy.

Joe went home came back about 2 and Bennie came up with him.

Lida over at night dretful windy.

I wrote Gifford today.




Monday January 16, 1922


Bright and pleasant and quite cool.

Joe went home with Maude, dretful drifts went down across.

Joe went over to Abbie this evening.




Tuesday January 17, 1922


They broke out the road today. Pleasant.

I washed some.




Wednesday January 18, 1922


Pleasant till afternoon, clouded up.

Charlie went to creamery took a little cream from here and 3 dozen and 3 eggs.

Ironed.

Had a letter from Emma.




Thursday January 19, 1922


Rained a little and (wed) a speck. Very cloudy and fogy.

No mail today. I cut out an under waist, baked apples today. Cloudy and lonesome day.




Friday January 20, 1922


Charlie and Bennie gone to village. Joe came about 7 I guess.

All the mail I had was courier seen no one all day.

Bennie took his furs to send away.




Saturday January 21, 1922


Snowed a little in morning, quite nice in afternoon, very comfortable.

I sewed a little. Lida over a few minutes.




Sunday January 22, 1922


Windy windy. It been an awful windy day. Blew hard hard.

Joe went home with Maude but drifted so he did not come back with her drifted so bad.

I only went to barn once so rough at night.

Grows colder.




Monday January 23, 1922


16 below.

Bright and pleasant and very still and cold. It been cold all day.

I made pies and doughnuts. Kent did not come today. Drifted bad.

Joe came afoot so drifted.

Cold Cold pleasant.

I cleaned one shelf in cupboard.

No road nor any sign of one.




Wednesday January 25, 1922


Pleasant and cold.

It was a cold night.

I riped up an old coat for mittens.

I cleaned one shelf in kitchen today cupboard.




Thursday January 26, 1922


Bright and pleasant.

Abbie over a jif. Carl and Lida went back today.


It a little warmer but a cold day.

Kent went today for the first time since Saturday. They did not get broke out till last night over to Walters (or Walkers) so not broke on mountain yet.




Friday January 27, 1922


Pleasant and warmer.

The snow plough been on road and up in here.

Charlie going to Rochester with cream.

I worked some on an under waist.




Saturday January 28, 1922


Pleasant.

Bennie came up and watered cattle. Joe gone with Charlie to village.

I sent for (Good Stories) and for Ellen one year (,b’o).




Sunday January 29, 1922


Pleasant.

Joe cleaned stove pipe.

It pleasant and comfortable.

I wrote to Mrs. Apger and wrote for New England Homestead.




Monday January 30, 1922


Pleasant.

Charlie gone to village. Joe came early to night or I mean in good season.

No mail today.

I wrote Miss Welch did not send it.

Very pleasant.

Joe and Bennie gone to village with logs.

Charlie came up and watered cows.




Wednesday February 1, 1922


Very pleasant and warm for time of year.

Abbie came over a few minutes.

Charlie gone to Bethel.

Joe went to mines with milk.

I moped and cleaned up some.


No mail today.




Thursday February 2, 1922

Rained hard in the morning. At noon or a little past sun shone bright.

Joe went home he tried to lead the Niger and she not lead so he went alone and afoot. Nice afternoon.





Friday February 3, 1922


Chilly cloudy.

Charlie came up and he and Joe dressed off the Niger today.

My back awful lame.





Saturday February 4, 1922


Joe went to Rochester today with cream with Maud.

1 box crackers $1.15 pound coffee




Sunday February 5, 1922


Pleasant.

Charlie came up got beef and went to mines. Took 5 dozen eggs $1.50.

Charlie paid me $15 for beef today.

Charlie brought up clock today that been off for repairs.

Charlie brought us a sack flour cost $2.15. A bag cattle salt 100 pounds $1.30.

Bennie came up and helped Joe get wood. Lida over a jif.




Monday February 6, 1922


Stormy, quite a little came.

I do not feel very well, my back so lame.

Abbie over only stoped a few minutes.

Grace the Wilson sheep had her lamb this morn.





Tuesday February 7, 1922


Pleasant. Some cooler, wind blows some roads full.

Twitchel ploughed out just at night.

Another sheep had a lamb this morn.

Charlie came up and watered cattle and done chores. Joe and Bennie gone to village with logs.

Charlie gone to Rochester with cream.

I sewed some.

Very comftiable and pleasant.

Abbie over a few minutes. She got cold and does not feel very well.

I washed today.




Saturday February 11, 1922


Cloudy and stormed. Some wind - blew some looked pretty dark.

Lida over a jif. She got cold and said her mother did not feel very well.




Sunday February 12, 1922


Quite pleasant.

Lida came over. Her mother, she said, felt better than yesterday.

I wrote Eva today.




Monday February 13, 1922


Windy windy. The wind blew dretful hard.

I had a letter from Mrs. Pike and the hat pins I sent for from Good Stories came today.




Tuesday February 14, 1922


Sun shines but it pretty cool.

They not broke out today. Kent went with mail. I had a letter from Miss (Boutwell) and a Farm Journal.

Joe did not take Maud today.




Wednesday February 15, 1922


Snowed most all day.

They broke out and plough shovel went.

I had a letter from Emma and Mrs. Roy (Geer) today.

I sewed a little.

Made squash pies. I had a Valentine from Sterling today.

Not very cold but stormy most all day long.




Thursday February 16, 1922


Cold. The coldest day we had this winter.

Charlie came up and took beef and he and Joe going to creamery and to mines. Took my cream and 4 dozen eggs.

My clothes lines and cotton gloves I sent to Sears and Roebuck came to day. Joe got a pound coffee and mop stick .30

The coldest night last night we had.

Charlie came up and watered and feed at night. Joe and Bennie gone to village. Cold.





Saturday February 18, 1922


Cloudy, chilly but not as cold today, not much sun.

Joe went to village.

Lida over a few minutes.

I had post card from Miss Welch.




Sunday February 19, 1922


Snowed in forenoon. Joe did not go home. Bennie came up and brought 600 grain and he and Joe drawed up (wood).




Monday February 20, 1922


Pleasant. Wind blows but sun shines and not very cold.

Ellen came up did not stop long.

Bennie and Joe gone to village.

I swept and cleaned out my bedroom and moped kitchen today.

I had a letter from Eva and she sent me some samples of trimming crochet.




Tuesday February 21, 1922


Bright and cool.

I washed some. No mail today. I sent for some flower seed to Charlotte Haines today.

Bennie went with logs alone today.




Wednesday February 22, 1922


Snowed most all day.

Charlie and Joe butchered one of ther pigs.

Hard traveling. Joe brought up some pork.

Snowed hard.





Thursday February 23, 1922


Cloudy fogy all day.

Just at night Twitchel tracked out.

At night wind blows dretful hard.





Friday February 24, 1922


Pleasant.

Joe and Bennie went with logs to Bethel.

In the evening Carl and Lida came over and bennie came up and they plaid cards. Bennie went home in evening.

I had a letter from Mrs. Paul Wilson and some papers.

Pleasant.

Lida came over.





Sunday February 26, 1922


Chilly but quite a good day.

Charlie went to mines came got our eggs, 4 dozen and 3 eggs.

Little Joe staid and put in a new window, the west one in kitchen. He put it in nice.

Charlie brought our oil kerosene Joe got Friday. $1

Stormy most all day, no sun today.

Some lonesome today. No mail today.




Tuesday February 28, 1922


Wind blows but the sun shines. I cut out my waist. Ellen gave me the cloth number years ago.

I comenced a letter to Emma.

I feel lonesome. No mail today. Quite cool.




Wednesday March 1, 1922


Sun shone in forenoon but clouded up in afternoon. Chilly. No mail today.

I tried out my tallow to day. Wrote a little.

I put in one box tomato seeds today, Dwarf Champion, got dirt ready for some more.





Thursday March 2, 1922


Pleasant.

I made pies today apple and mince.

Put in rest of tomatoes seeds.

I sent letter to Emma.





Friday March 3, 1922


Very pleasant warmer but some chilly. Water came into my closet and upstairs.

Dolly sheep of Charlies does not feel well. I gave her salts.

Joe and Bennie went to village with logs.

I cleaned two shelves in kitchen cupboard today. 3 more to clean. I sent a letter to Mrs. Geer today.

I had letter from California.




Saturday March 4, 1922


Pleasant in the morn cloudy in afternoon.

Lida over a few minutes. Joe and Bennie went with logs.

I moped and worked about house all day. My flour seeds came today from Charlotte M. Haines.




Sunday March 5, 1922


Snowed hard till about afternoon at night warmer and pleasant.

Joe shoveled snow from north side and some on portico.

Joe did not go home.




Monday March 6, 1922


Pleasant.

Lonesome.

Just one year today Joe was taken sick. It nice day outside but I am dretful lonesome.

Thaws lots.

Abbie came over stoped just a few minutes.

No mail today.

Looks like storm.




Tuesday March 7, 1922


Rainy. Windy.

Joe Rice went to town meeting with Walker.

Bennie came up and watered cattle. Charlie does not feel very well, did not go to town meeting.

Joe got me spools thread..18 (gr) pound black pepper .13.

I sent Sterling some candy today.

Very lonesome.

We cleaned out stovepipe this morn. Wind blows some.

Pleasant.

Ellen came up a little while.

I finished cleaning cupboard in kitchen.

Glad to see Ellen.

Joe and Bennie gone to village with logs.




Friday March 10, 1922


Pleasant.

Charlie and Ellen came up and brought grain.

Abbie over just stopped a jif.

I made cake and pie and washed my underclothes.

Bennie came up in evening. We expected Carl and Lida but they did not come.

Bright and pleasant.

Charlie went to mines and came down and took me home with him. We had fine dinner. Ellen took me home. Joe came back with (his). Fine day.

Warm in middle of day.

I washed sheets and pillow cases and quite a lot besides. Dried fine. Some cloudy in afternoon.

Charlie and Joe going to village with logs.

Pleasant thaws lots of snow goes fast.

I let hens out for the first time this spring.

Warm in middle of day. Froze quite a little last night.

I had a letter from Emma today.

I wrote Mrs. (Paul) Wilson and Mrs. Pike and sent them today.

About 4 Ellen came up and staid a little while. Glad to see her.




Thursday March 16, 1922


Chilly.

I got quite a hard cold. I done a little cooking.

Charlie and Joe went to Win Whitakers for ther first load of hay. Went twice today.

Snowed just a speck.




Friday March 17, 1922


Cold wind.

I not been out but once at noon. I feel mean.

Abbie over.

Pleasant but cold.

Courier came today. Lida came over a little while. I done nothing all day.

Pleasant and cold.

Charlie came and got our eggs. 2 dozen and 2 eggs. He went to mines with Maud.




Monday March 20, 1922


Rained and snowed most of the day.

Bennie came up and staid a while with me.

My cream check from Rochester came today.

Carl and Lida came over and staid a while in the evening. They played cards.

I had a letter from Mrs. Pike today.

Cloudy and snowed some.

It seems lonesome to me today.

Lida over a few minutes.




Wednesday March 22, 1922


Cloudy. Snowed a little but warmer than yesterday.

I washed and cleaned some bags in bedroom closet.

Bright and pleasant.

Charlie and Bennie came with saw rig and Joe went home and came back with them and they sawed up some wood. I had a letter from Jennie Pember. Very nice letter. One from Mrs. Geer.




Saturday March 25, 1922


Warmer. Cloudy in afternoon.

I finished cleaning cupboard in pantry.

Dolly sheep does not feel very well. Lida over a few minutes.

Charlie’s folks butchered 2 pigs today.

I had a letter from Nadine and card from Sterling Pike.




Sunday March 26, 1922


Quite warm. Cloudy in afternoon. At night it rained a little. Warmest day of the year.

It one year today since Joe passed away. It been a very lonesome day for me. I feel so sad.

Just at night Abbie came over, did not stop but a few minutes.

Charlie did not go to mines thaw so much.




Monday March 27, 1922


Rainy and fogy and cloudy all day long.

Lida over a few minutes. I do not think Kent went today.

I feel awful lonesome today.

I mended most of time. Chilly, damp and rainy.




Tuesday March 28, 1922


Rainy. In evening thundered and lightened hard.

Joe brought up some leaf lard. I tried it out today. Walker got our mail at mines. Kent not been this week, no traveling.

It rained hard a good deal of the time today. Joe came in good season.




Wednesday March 29, 1922


Cooler and sun shone some. Quite nice in afternoon.

Stodard went down with wagon braking out. Lida over a little while.

It seems pretty lonesome to me now.

Mr. Adams from mines came got 6 quarts milk and 1 dozen and 8 eggs.




Thursday March 30, 1922


Cloudy.

Old Gracie sheep is sick. Seems no better at night.

Lonesome day.

I had a letter from Mrs. Paul Wilson.

Lida brought us some syrup. Very good.




Friday March 31, 1922


Cloudy at night. Snowed and hailed and is cold. Bad night.

Joe went over to Abbie’s this evening.

Charlie went to Bethel today. Dretful cold wind.

I sewed some. Mended quilt on my bed.

Gracie sheep is dead this morning.




Saturday April 1, 1922



It snowed most all day. A big batch has come. It a heavy snow. Bad day.

Joe did not go home so bad snow deep.

I done scarce anything all day. It cold.

Joe got 15 eggs.




Sunday April 2, 1922


Quite pleasant. No track. Joe went home.

Lida came over stoped a few minutes.

I wrote Emma and Mrs. (Alger) today, do not know when I can send them. Snow looks deep now.




Monday April 3, 1922


Very Pleasant.

Joe went to village to get grain, the carload was unloaded today. Joe did not get back here till about 25 to 9 evening.

Lida came over a jif in evening.

I made some hard soap, first I made alone. Joe C. Always helped me make it. I cleaned a little in cellarway. No mail carrier since Friday.




Tuesday April 4, 1922


Quite a good day. Some cloudy. I was (hed) some.

Lida over a few minutes. She and Carl going back to school tomorrow morn, going on the train.

Charlie and Bennie gone to Bethel so Joe had all ther milking to do before coming here.

No mail carrier or any road here.




Wednesday April 5, 1922


Pleasant.

I ironed some today.

Charlie folks taped some trees today.

I tryed out the rest of my lard today.




Thursday April 6, 1922


Pleasant.

Mr. Adams came and got 6 quarts of milk and 2 dozen eggs. Milk .60 eggs .50.

I put some sulphur and grease on some of cows.

Kent came to the mail box today. All we had was paper New E.H.

I made mince pie.




Friday April 7, 1922


Cloudy all day. Chilly.

I do not feel very well. Neuralgia.

I put some letters in box but they did not go but I found Courier in box.

Joe brought some syrup tonight. Good.




Saturday April 8, 1922


Pleasant.

Kent came today.

Lida over brought us some syrup. Carl and Lida did not go to school the past week.

I sent a letter to Emma and Eva P. Lyon.

Joe brought a fine pail sugar tonight.

It thundered and lightened in the night.




Sunday April 9, 1922


Cloudy at noon, began to rain at (2), began to thunder and lighten hard. Lighten sharp.

Joe came when raining.

Lida came at night brought us some horseradish. I wrote Jennie and began a letter to Mrs. Geer.

Warmer. Rained quite a lot.




Monday April 10, 1922

Pleasant, some windy, not bad. Snow leaves fast today.

Abbie over a few minutes. Carl and Lida went back today.

Good Stories came today, all the mail we had.

Mr. Adams came got 6 qt. milk, 2 dozen eggs came to $1.10.

The brook up dretful high.

Cloudy. Rained some in morning. At night rained hard and thundered.

Abbie over a jif, said Roy Aldrich was dead.

I cleaned a little upstairs.

Cloudy lonesome day.

I cleaned some upstairs, sorted some papers.

Grows cooler at night.

Cloudy. Chilly.

I put fethers from old pillows into new ticks.

Abbie over just a jif.

Mr. Adams came, got 7 quarts milk, no eggs tonight. .70.




Friday April 14, 1922


Pleasant.

Charlie gone to Bethel a with wagon for the first time this Spring.

Abbie over just a jif, brought me a letter from Mrs. Pike.

I not done very much. I feel cold.




Saturday April 15, 1922

Stormy. It snows almost all day. Quite a lot has come.

Pike’s folks are moving this afternoon.

I had a card from Sterling.

It was bad going to village yesterday. Charlie came home by the way of Lympus.

Mrs. Nelson Chapman was buried yestaday.

I sewed a little today. Cloudy and snowy.




Sunday April 16, 1922


Pleasant. The snow goes fast.

I sit out (or) transplanted two tomatoes.

Pikes folks staid up to ther house tonight. They finished moving today.

Joe came in good season tonight.




Monday April 17, 1922


Rainy. Windy.

I washed a few pieces today.

Abbie over a few minutes.

Adams came for milk, 6 quarts and 2 dozen eggs.

Windy, windy.

Bennie came up and staid a little while.

I not done much, so windy.




Wednesday April 19, 1922


Pleasant.

Charlie came and brought some grain and a sack of flour.

Abbie over a few minutes. I had a letter from Emma today.

I cleaned a little upstairs.




Thursday April 20, 1922


Cloudy and snowed some. Very chilly wind.

Mr. Adams came today and got 7 quarts milk.




Friday April 21, 1922


Windy. Snowed a little in morn. Sun came out later.

I washed some today. Sheets and pillow cases, towels and aprons. Clothes froze before I got them on line. Cold raw wind.

Just got Courier for mail today. I wrote and sent a letter to Mrs. Paul Wilson.





Saturday April 22, 1922


Cool, cloudy.

I washed out Joe overalls and my white skirt.

Lida over a jif.

I finished cleaning east chamber closet.

Seems cool cloudy but quite a good day.




Sunday April 23, 1922


Cloudy. Squally. Snowed a little.

I began to use flour from new sack, made biscuit and doughnuts.

I went got sheep up on Pikes and see the pupies.

Hailed and snowed. Cool night.




Monday April 24, 1922


Pleasant but cool.

I had a letter from Mrs. Geer.

Mr. Adams came and got milk.

6 qt. milk 2 dozen eggs.

Charlies folks boiled some sap cool.




Tuesday April 25, 1922


Pleasant.

I cleaned out east chamber (or) did not quite finish it. Had to chase sheep they went way above Pikes.




Wednesday April 26, 1922


Cloudy in afternoon. Warmer.

We put sheep in pasture but some got out up in Pikes. I got them and they went back.




Thursday April 27, 1922


Cold. Snowed a little. It a cold raw cloudy day.

Mr. Adams came got 6 qts. Milk 2 dozen eggs.

One of Charlies sheep died today.

Mr. Adams took the two books I read and brought me another one to read.




Friday April 28, 1922


Sun shines. Cold, windy.

It froze hard last night. Wind blows today.

I wrote Miss Boutwell and sent to (Peny Dame) for shirt and gingham. $1.35 all.

I cleaned some upstairs.

Lida over a few minutes.

Pleasant.

Charlie came and brought some grain.

Pike paid me for milk $1.12 and one dozen eggs .25.




Monday May 1, 1922


Pleasant.

Joe went to village today did not get home till after 9.

Adams came and got 5 quarts of milk tonight.

The sheep, 6 in number, at Charlies came up here.

Abbie over a jif.

All I do is watch sheep.

Hotest day of season. I washed a few pieces. Washed my bed spread.

Very warm watched sheep.

Freddie came and got a quart of milk tonight.

I put eggs under old hen in coop tonight.




Thursday May 4, 1922


Rainy and cooler, yes cold. I did not let out sheep so cold and it rained all forenoon.

Adams came got 8 quarts milk, 2 dozen eggs.

We let Pike’s folks one pound butter this morn.




Friday May 5, 1922


Rainy. Rainy. Rained hard most all day long. Sheep in all day today and yesterday. I cleaned up in J. C. room over kitchen.

A very lonesome day. Courier did not come today.




Saturday May 6, 1922


Quite pleasant.

I had sheep out.

I cleaned open chamber and stairs, made a pie, and watched sheep.




Sunday May 7, 1922


Cloudy at night. 3 O’clock rained hard and thundered and lightened.

Joe gone home. Bennie came up and went back with Joe.

Joe went up and Mr. Pike came down and helped move cook stove.

Rained in morning hard. We keep in sheep.




Monday May 8, 1922


Pleasant. Cool.

I wrote Mr. (F.) Guernsey today.

I cleaned one cupboard in back room.

All came and dug potatoes.

Bennie came home this morn, came on night train and came afoot.

Joe went yestaday for him, he got left.

Sunday October 15, 1922


Warm and pleasant.

Charlie and boys came up and finished digging potatoes.

We had chicken old hen dinner.

Lida and the little Este girl over a few minutes.

Boys went home and came back. Milked. Going to stay all night.

I am intending to go to village tomorrow with Charlie’s folks.




Monday October 16, 1922


Cloudy and rained some. I went to village with Charlie and Ellen. I staid at Paul Wilson’s tonight.

I paid my tax.




Tuesday October 17, 1922


Rained in morn.

In afternoon Charlie came down to village with Maud and got me. The wind blew hard and it growing cold.

Bennie came. Good fire and he milked.




Wednesday October 18, 1922


Cold. Cold. Cold wind blows awfuly.

Bennie came in afternoon. Glad to see him.

It growing cold fast. Wind goes down some.

Carl came and stoped a little while. Glad to see him.

Cold. Snowed a little. Cold.

I expected Bennie but he did not come. I am going to stay alone tonight.

Cold but not as cold.

I washed out a few pieces.

Bennie came and staid with me tonight.

Pleasant and cold.

I washed clothes. Froze on the line.

Courier did not come till today.

Warmer and pleasant.

Charlie and Joe came and moved the stove today.

Very comftiable today.




Monday October 23, 1922


Quite warm and comftiable in forenoon but at night wind blew hard and looks dark and in evening thundered and lightened hard and just poured the rain.

At dark Bennie came to stay with me. I am so glad to see him.

Abbie over in forenoon, brought me some nice pudding. Mrs. Pike sent me a postcard.

I had no mail.




Tuesday October 24, 1922


Cool, snowed a little. Cold wind. Cloudy.

Bennie went home this morning.

I wrote Mrs. Paul Wilson and sent today.

I sent yestaday for some under drawers up to Thomas store.

I had no mail today.

It seems lonesome to me tonight more than usual. Awful red in south. Wind blows.

Some windy. It was a cold night but it been very comftiable today. Cloudy.

Thursday October 26, 1922


Chilly. Cold. Snowed a little.

Bennie came up in the morn did not stop but a few minutes went to Joe traps.

My under drawers from the Chadwick store Randolph came today.

It snows a little tis eve and chilly.




Friday October 27, 1922


Cloudy. A little warmer but cool air.

I sent money for my drawers today.

No Courier today.

Abbie over just a jif.

I feel lonesome tonight. I been all alone since Monday night.




Saturday October 28, 1922


Quite pleasant.

I made pies and cake.

Bennie came up and staid all night. Joe was coming but does not feel very well.

Carl went away to find work today.




Sunday October 29, 1922


Quite pleasant.

Charlie and Joe came up and got me some wood. Bennie got leaves and banked house.

In evening Lida and Anna Savage came over late evening.

Bennie going to stay all night with me.

Cool wind.




Monday October 30, 1922


Pleasant and some warmer.

I went over and see Abbie a little while.

I worked outside most of the day. I put boards on banking and put some boards on east side of patio.

My drawers and gingham came from Chadwick store.




Tuesday October 31, 1922


Very Pleasant.

Abbie and Jr. Came over a few minutes.

I had a letter from Jennie Pember today.

In evening Mrs. Pike came down and stoped a little while.

Nice eve. Cool.




Wednesday November 1, 1922


Pleasant.

Very comftiable.

I washed some.

I made rice pudding today and mended some. Sun shines nice. Clothes dried fine.

At night or evening Joe and Bennie came, going to stay all night with me.




Thursday November 2, 1922


Pleasant.

The boys went home this morn. At night Bennie came and milked. Going to stay all night. I was very glad to see him.

I went up to the woods got a few leaves to put round sink spout.

Cloudy all day. Rained a little in morning.

Abbie and little Jr. Came over.

I not done much today. I made cookies.

No paper, no mail today.

Bennie went home this morn.

Abbie told me Dr. Merriam’s wife had passed away.

Charlies Ellen and boys and my self all went to Willie Pember, had a good time. Aunt Jennie and Erea was there.

Cloudy, fogy all day. I got heifers in the morning today.

Ellen went and see Abbie and stoped here a little while.

I had a letter from Mrs. Geer today.

Thursday November 9, 1922


It cooler, quite cool at night. Snowed a bit. Not a very good day. Cold wind.

I mended stockings, sorted papers.

Just at night Ellen came up home brought me a nice (piele) chicken pie.




Friday November 10, 1922


The Sun Shines. First day for a week sun shone.

It a fine day.

Abbie and Jr. Came over. Abbie had a letter from Carl today. I sent a letter to a woman in Ohio.

Courier came. I read, washed just a few things.

Sun shone some and it quite warm.

I cleaned my bedroom. I seen no one but Carl, he gone home.

It thundered about 7 evening.

Joe did not come tonight.




Sunday November 12, 1922


Cloudy in forenoon and rained a speck. In afternoon quite pleasant and grows cold.

Lida came home last night and went back today afoot. Abbie went a piece with her and little Jr. Staid with me. He was a good boy.

I seen none of the folks from the north.

I wrote Emma a letter.




Monday November 13, 1922


Bright and pleasant. Quite cool.

I got the book the Adams had and a letter from Miss Adams today. I seen none of Charlie’s folks.

I sewed a little. Cool and pleasant.




Tuesday November 14, 1922


Some cloudy. Very comftiable.

I not heard from Charlie’s folks.

Pansie and husband and little boy and Carl drove in here. All been out to Abbie’s. Carl not going back to Hancock to work.

I went up and see the puppies at Mr. Pike’s. Very pretty.

I had a letter from Mrs. Paul Wilson.

Cloudy and dark and rained hard in morning. In afternoon quite comftiable and colder.

I not heard from any of Ellen’s folks. I feel so worried.

My samples of outings came from the Henrys Brothers today.

I seen no one all day. Rather lonesome.

A little snow on the ground this morn. It been quite bright and cool today.

I not seen any of the Wilsons today.

I sent for some outing from the Henry store today.

It snowed a little this evening.

Chilly but quite a good day.

Joe came brought some grain and cut me some wood. I glad to see him.

My outing came today from the Henry store.

The Courier did not come today. I washed just a few pieces, my fingers so lame I could not wash much.

Cloudy.

Specky got in a trap. I went and got Mr. Pike to get her out. It hurt her foot but guess she get over it.

Cows went over to Walkers and thers came over here.

Abbie took ours home and all went back but we got them.




Monday November 20, 1922


Cloudy. Rained some and snowed some. Rained hard in the morning.

Carl and Emma little boy came over. Carl brought me some papers to read. I did not have any mail.

Cloudy and cool.

I made pies.

I had a letter from Eva today.

I sewed on my under skirt a little.

Cloudy. Cold.

Mrs. Pike paid me all up till Monday the 20.

Ellen came up did not stop but a jif.

Joe came in evening and milked.

Joe went home this morning a (eval) morning.

I finished my outing under skirt today.

Snowed some. Chilly and rough.

Charlie came up and put the three heifers in barn. Joe gone to village for grain.

I was sick last night. Feel better but not well as normal.

Courier came today.

Sun shone some but it cool and some airy.

Joe came and watered heifers and cut some wood.

Joe came and watered heifers.

At half past 8 evening Ellen came and staid all night with me. Went at 6 morning.

Chilly but quite a nice day.

Joe came and watered and done all night chores and going to stay all night.

They killed a beef and dressed it off the day. Charlie going to mines tomorrow peddling. I had no mail.

Cloudy.

Joe watered heifers and not coming tonight.

I had no mail nor I not heard from Ellen.




Wednesday November 29, 1922


Bright and pleasant.

Charlie came and watered heifers and milked tonight. It been cool but pleasant.




Thursday November 30, 1922


Cloudy. Chilly, but not very cold.

Joe came with sled and got me and brought me home. Done all my night chores.

We had a fine dinner baked chicken, beef steak, and all the goodies for Thanksgiving.




Friday December 1, 1922


Rained hard. Wind blows hard in afternoon and at night. Joe came about two and watered.

I had a letter from Miss Wheat, one from Gifford, a post card from Sterling, one from Mrs. Blake.

Courier came today also New England Homestead and Farm and Home.

I made two pies today.

Bright and pleasant.

Joe came and watered heifers. Charlie gone to Bethel today.

Lida came over just at dark, stoped a few minutes.

No mail today.

Cloudy in afternoon. Snowed some.

Charlie came, brought grain 100 corn same of meal.

Monday December 4, 1922


Quite pleasant in forenoon. Cloudy and wind blew some in afternoon.

I washed some. I sent a letter to Miss Welch today.

Joe came at night, going to stay all night.




Tuesday December 5, 1922


Snowed some. Rough, windy. Sun just peeped out but windy.

Joe went home this morning.

I sent for some post cards and wrote Mrs. Paul Wilson and sent today.

Mrs. Pike paid all up till last Sunday Dec. 3. Paid $5.18.




Wednesday December 6, 1922


Bright and cold.

Coldest night of the season, below zero. Joe came and watered heifers.

Mrs. Pike came down in evening and staid awhile with me. Glad to see her.

No mail today.




Thursday December 7, 1922


Cold raw day.

I done but little besides the barn chores. I made rice pudding and ironed a little.

No mail today.

Joe came and watered heifers and cut some wood.

Snowed some and hailed some.

Charlie went to mines toady, came down at night. Watered heifers and milked. He took rest of the wood.

I made squash pie and just chored it.

Cloudy and snowed some. Courier came today.

Joe came and watered heifers. He not coming tomorrow or any of them for Ellen and Charlie going to Randolph with wool if pleasant.




Saturday December 16, 1922


Cooler. Real pleasant and frosty in morning but clouded up some and wind blows chilly. I watered heifers in pail. Cool air.




Sunday December 17, 1922


Stormy most all day. Quite a lot of snow.

Joe came and watered heifers and choped some wood.

Ellen and Charlie went to Randolph with wool yestaday. Mine came to 890 (erasure) $90.70 cts.

I cooked a piece beef and made nice pudding.




Monday December 18, 1922


Quite comftiable. Quite a lot of snow.

Joe came in forenoon and watered. They intend to butcher today.

I wrote Mr. C. (Gifford) and sent today. I written Miss Wheat to send tomorrow.

Cold. The coldest night last night we had.

Charlie came and watered heifers and done milking and chores for night.

Wednesday December 20, 1922


Chilly. Cloudy.

I cut my blankets apart and hemed and washed out one.

None of the Wilsons came today.

I watered heifers in pail.

Old Goldie died today. Most dead when I found her this morning.

I had a letter and picture from Mrs. Apger. Pictures of the family.

Wind breezes up tonight. Cold wind.

Quite pleasant. Warmer then it has been.

Charlie went to mines and came down in evening and watered heifers. Charlie brought me a nice piece of pork and some lard to try out, all very nice.

I had a post card from Edith today.

Sterling came home today.

Cloudy but very comftiable.

Charlie came up, cut wood and watered heifers.

I tryed out my lard.

Had a letter and some cards from Mr. Gifford today. I sent all at C. K. Smith a post card today.




Saturday December 23, 1922


Cloudy. Quite comftiable.

I had letter from Eva and card. I sent Eva letter and card.

A card from Jennie Pem(ber), a card from Miss Boutwell and from Mrs. Rix.

Lida over a few minutes, says her mother does not feel very well.

None of Charlies folks came today.

I washed some today.




Sunday December 24, 1922


Cloudy. Quite comftiable.

Charlie came up and watered heifers.

Ellen sent me candy and a nice pair stockings.

Poolyanna sheep does not feel well.

Charlie brought my new boots. Paid $4.25. Size 5.

No sun shine today.

Pike folks paid up all milk bills up today.

They had 1 dozen eggs today not paid for.




Monday December 25, 1922


Cloudy all day. Quite comftiable.

Charlie came up with Maud, brought hundred corn. Joe sent me a nice pair stockings in a box.

Carl came over gave me some candy.

I had no mail today.




Tuesday December 26, 1922


Quite pleasant in the morn but clouded up in afternoon.

I wrote Jennie P.

I had mail yestaday but Smead did not leave out signal. 1 box from Miss Welch a deer and it was broken, some tooth paste and cold cream. Post card from Pansie, one from Mrs. Apger and a handkerchief. Sterling brought me a bag of corn and candy.

I watered heifers. None of Charlie’s folks came today.




Wednesday December 27, 1922


Cloudy.

Lida over a jif. She brought me Howard and Nadine and Margaret pictures. I pleased with them.

I had a post card from Miss Wheat, one from Mrs. Gifford.

Charlie came and watered heifers. Been to mines.

Ellen sent me bread. I washed a bit. At night snows.




Thursday December 28, 1922


Rough and stormy all day long.

Joe came and watered heifers and cut some wood. Ellen sent me some doughnuts.

I had a letter from Nadine.




Friday December 29, 1922


Snow. Deep. Snowed and blowed most all night.

Pretty hard to get to barn. Charlie came and watered all. Done all the night chores.

Lida came over on her snowshoes. Sun peeped out a little in afternoon.

A snowy time.




Saturday December 30, 1922


The sun shines. It quite clear cool air.

Charlie came and watered and done all night chores. He killed old rooster to take to the mines.

Mail man came as far as Pike, left mail there, 2 papers and a letter from California. The snow deep.

Lida over a jif at night get some castor oil for her cats.

It warmer. Joe broke out the road, stoped here and watered heifers.

Little sun and some cloudy.

Joe going to mines with old rooster.
