"Johnson's History of Cecil Co., Maryland, pg.297 gives a court record of the elder Samuel Brice petitioning that he shall not pay taxes in both Maryland & Pennsylvania.
The Samuel Brice b.1743 held land left him by will of his father James Brice who died in 1765 on Upper Deer Creek in the northern part of Maryland.
In the Revolutionary War, Samuel Brice was a ranger and moved from place to place living in forts."
