Petition for Divorce
"To the Honorable Supreme Court next to ... be holden at New-Fane within and for the County of Windham on the Fourth Tuesday of January next, Humbly Sheweth
Lucinda Wells of Rockingham in the County of Windham, and State of Vermont, that at Charlestown in the County of Cheshire and State of New Hampshire, on the Fourteenth day of June in the year of our Lord 1810, she was lawfully married to Horace Wells, then of said Rockingham, now gone to parts unknown to your Petitioner, by Frederick A. Your petitioner, therefore, humbly prays this Honourable Court that the bonds of matrimony between her and the said Horace Wells, may be dissolved and a bill of divorce granted her; and your Petitioner, in duty bound will ever pray. [signed Lucinda Wells] by Dana Miller her att'y.
