DICKSON Narrative
JOHN DICKSON, Sr.
John Dickson emigrated to the United States from Scotland (possibly Glasgow 1) and took the Oath of Allegience in Philadelphia in 1798 6. According to the Burlington County NJ 1850 census, he was 81 years old at the time and was a weaver. He and his second wife, Hannah, reportedly lived on Buttonwood Street in Crosswicks, New Jersey. 5
SAMUEL ROBBINS DICKSON
Samuel may have been a minister according to a letter from his great grand-daughter Edith Spiller to WD Johnson Jr., but according to a newspaper death notice, he was in the hide business on South Warren Street, Trenton, NJ (near the creek). The death certificate lists his occupation as "clerk". 4
HANNAH DICKSON
In the Family Bible of John & Hannah (Robbins) Dickson, one record of her marriage refers to her as Hannie Dickson. Hannah (Dickson) Johnson died at private premises at Ward Street, Morris Park, Queens (presumably in her home)2. She apparently had been estranged from her husband for some time 3.
