Professor John KNIBBS MBE
Belated congratulations to John on becoming a “Member of the British Empire”. His investiture took place at Buckingham Palace on 24th November 2010. The citation for his award read “For Services to Health Care in Northamptonshire”.
At the Presentation, in addition to talking about his work with the Health Service, the Princess Royal (Anne) asked him about his connection with the County. He told her it stretched back many generations and talked to her about his Kettering links, referring to William Knibb and his work against slavery. This reference to his work in the West Indies was particularly appropriate, bearing in mind her mother had just that day flown off in that direction to visit to the Trinidad and Tobago. The Princess specifically asked if William was his ancestor and had to listen to his confession that he was not related to this Kettering Worthy!
