There is a record of the Lake family coming from England in 1838 when William George Lake came to Mass. He married Mary Gardner. They had two sons, Elijah & James and a daughter Mary. In 1679 Elijah married Rebecca Ellerton. They had five children; Constant, Ellerton, Jane, Elizabeth Annebel and Marty. In 1703 Constant Ellerton Lake settled on the Eastern shore of Maryland - 1709 married Eliza Willis. Their children were Chloe, Winnifred, Constant, Eliza, Mary, Martha and Norton. Constant married Mildred E. Mont of Annapolis - he was a major in the Maryland state troops during the Revolutionery war. His children were Mary, Ann, Hannah, Joseph and Constant.
In 1756, Constant, the son of the Major married Anna Ware and their children were Constant and Johnathan. They settled in the Shennadoah Valley. In 1796 moved to NY where he married Annas Straughn - they them moved to Trumbell County, Ohio and then Wayne County,

From 1822 thru 1841 he was buying and selling Wayne County, Ohio land frequently.
In 1826 he was in partnership with James Jacobs.
In 1834 he was appointed Register of the land Office in Wooster, Ohio.
In 1842 he moved to Cleveland. In 1845 he moved to New York City. In New York he worked on the stock exchange and made and lost several fortunes.
At the time of his death he lived at 88 East 20th Street New York, NY.

May 5, 1994 Western Reserve Historical Society --Henry R. Baldwin Genealogical records- in vol. 16- page 111 there is several mentions of Eleanor Eichar Lake. This section of the Baldwin report was prepared in Brookfield Township, Trumbell County, Ohio but does not state the year prepared or the purpose?? There are several columns and I will try to duplicate his materials. I will use spaces with a line to indiacte where he has paired or combined families. He has placed a number after the Lake names and I am unsure of it's meaning. It is not completely clear as to which remark belongs to which family.
