HENRY M. ROBINSON
1872-1947

Henry Robinson, 74, of Webster, Dies

Henry Robinson, a retired farmer of Webster, Illinois passed away March 8th at the St. Joseph hospital in Keokuk following a long illness with cancer of the sinus, aged 74 years, 11 months and 21 days.

Henry Marcus Robinson, the son of Cathmur and Milinda (Callihan) Robinson, was born March 17, 1872 on the old Robinson homestead 2 and 1/2 miles southwest of Webster in Carthage Township.

Henry received his public school education at the Hobart District school and spent practically all of his life as a farmer in the vicinity of Webster; for the past 34 years he lived in Webster.

Mr. Robinson never married but his mother lived with him several years prior to her death in 1929.

For the past three months Mr. Robinson has been a patient in hospitals at Macomb, Iowa City and Keokuk.

Left to mourn his death are five brothers and one sister as follows: George Robinson, Carthage; Grant Robinson, Plymouth; Elmer Robinson, Augusta; Newton Robinson, Jacksonville; Claude Robinson, Bowen; and Mrs. Nora Parson, Ftn. Green.

Preceeding [sic] him in death were his parents; his brothers Ira and Marion; and, a half-brother, Will Reeves.

For many years Mr. Robinson has lived a very modest and thrifty life.  His desires seemed easily satisfied; although financially able to own most of the modern conveniences he never even owned an automobile or radio.

His many friends and relatives respected him for his honesty, truthfulness, and ambition.

There is no death! The leaves may fall,
And flowers may fade and pass away;
They only wait through wintry hours,
The coming of May.

There is no death! An angel form
Walks o'er the earth with silent tread;
He bears our best loved things away;
And we then call them "dead".

Funeral services for Mr. Robinson were held Monday, March 10 at 2 p. m., at Webster church with the Rev. C. J. Kinrade officiating.  Those in charge of the music were Gladys McConnell, Ellen Lenix and Ethel Callihan.  Pall bearers were J. A. Beebe, Albert Allen, Fred Hillers, Ross Parsons, C. R. Callihan and Orin Hobart.  Interment was in Webster cemetery.

From the files of the LaHarpe Historical and Genealogical Society, published March 12, 1947.

The location of Henry's birth, as related above, is inaccurate.  We know Cath, Malinda and family lived in the Webster area (Fountain Green Township) and in Pilot Grove Township, bookending the year Henry was born.  It wasn't until sometime between 1880 and 1900 that Malinda and all of the living children except for Roudy were in Carthage Township.
