WEBSTER CEMETERY HANCOCK COUNTY, ILLINOIS |
Following a gradual decline in health, James Ottis Yetter, a life-long resident of the Webster community, passed away on Friday, June 26, 1959 at the Memorial hospital at Carthage at the age of 74 years. Mr. Yetter was born March 12, 1885, the son of Martin and Anna Thompson Yetter, in Hancock township at the Yetter homestead one-half mile south of Webster. He received his education at Pennsylvania school and has resided in this community all his lifetime. He was married October 11, 1906 to Mary Reynolds, who passed away July 5, 1955. To this union were born five children: Mrs. Forrest Fuller of Lima, Harley of Kansas, Franklin of Peoria, Mrs. Olive Hillers and Mrs. Anna Mary Jones of Fountain Green. Also surviving are one half-brother, Fred, and half-sister, Mrs. Pearl McConnell, of Carthage. Also left to mourn his passing are four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were one sister, Dora, and one brother, William; a half-brother, Albert, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Vernice Harmon and Mrs. Goldie Booz. After the passing of the good wife, who he tenderly cared for during her many years of invalidism, he continued to live in the home at Webster, where he enjoyed the visits of his children and grandchildren, who showed him much consideration and kindness during his last illness. Of a kind-hearted and generous nature, Mr. Yetter will be remembered as a good neighbor, friend, and will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon in the Webster church, in charge of the Kilgore Memorial home of Carthage. Rev. Leland R. Beck of the Carthage Christian church officiated, and interment was in the webster cemetery. Pall bearers were Albert Allen, Albert Barr, Cherrill Reed, Gaylord Covert, Clifford Latherow and James McConnell.
