Friday, February 22, 2002 Alfred Mancel Higgins LOVINGTON, N.M.

— Services for Alfred Mancel Higgins, 79, of Lovington, N.M., will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Smith-Rogers Funeral Chapel with Leon Green officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Smith-Rogers Funeral Home of Lovington. He died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002. He was born Feb. 28, 1922, in Tell and was a road maintenance supervisor for Lea County for many years. He was a World War II veteran, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, EAME Ribbon and the American Theater Ribbon while serving in the Army. He was a Baptist and moved to Lea County in 1962 from Roswell, N.M. Survivors include two sons, Tommy of Aurora, Colo., and Weldon of Farmington, N.M.; two daughters, Linda Turnbow of Houston and Judy Houston of Tatum, N.M.; a brother, Charles of Lakeland, Fla.; a sister, Fannie Bell Jordan of Odessa; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

CHARLES HIGGINS, 79 Truck Driver LAKELAND -- Mr. Charles Lee Higgins of Lakeland died of heart disease Tuesday (Aug. 17, 2004) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 79. Born in Tell, Texas, on Oct. 22, 1924, Mr. Higgins came to Lakeland from El Paso, Texas, in 1991. He was a self-employed truck driver and also drove a delivery truck for The Ledger. Mr. Higgins is survived by his wife, Evelyn Higgins; sons, Alfred Higgins, St. Louis, Charles "Chuck" Higgins, Albuquerque, N.M., Carlton Higgins, McAllester, Okla., Tracy Higgins, Allen Higgns, both of Lakeland; daughters, Donna Dennis, Mancy Ball, both of Lakeland; nine grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren.
