Further checking revealed that Elizabeth Buckholts, an adult,
was baptized on 2 August 1737. Additionally, Elizabeth
Buckholts married Jonathan Cratchley on 2 August 1737 - the same
day!! Again, as I reported to you yesterday, this will seem to
imply that Elizabeth Buckholts was not born into the Church of
England and as she was being baptized as an adult it probably
indicated that she was raised as a Baptist - who did not baptize
children. The only Buckholts that I have found in S.C. were
Jacob and his two son's - all living at Welch Neck in the
Baptist settlement, which will seem to indicate that Elizabeth
also had to belong to this group??
This book is: The Register Book of Parish Prince Frederick
Winyaw of the Black River, S.C. which was founded during 1713.
This book was published
during 1916 by the National Society of The Colonial Dames of
America.
These were the only records of our particular group which will
seem to agree with our known knowledge that they eventually
belonged to the Baptist at Welch Neck in upper Cheraw District,
S.C.;and no longer made the long trip down to Prince Frederick
Winyaw Church on the Black River.
