Addresses of USA Genealogy and Historical Societies
Always include a Stamped Business-size Envelope with your Address printed on the front when writing to one of the following organizations. Many of these organizations have minimal budgets and can not respond to queries which do not include return postage on a pre-addressed envelope. Also, be aware that some organizations charge a small fee for their research work. In those cases, they will tell you the price before they do the work for you. My experience has shown that their results are often worth more than the small fee they charge. (D. Neff)
