After the war

He lived in Butler [County?], Pennsylvania, after the war. [source: 2]

He was admitted to the National Soldiers Home on 17 November 1877. He had locomotor ataxia. [sources: 1, 2]

On 17 April 1881, he died, in the Central Branch (Dayton, Ohio), of the National Soldiers Home. He died of paralysis. [sources: 1, 2]

On 5 May 1881, the National Home sent 2 army discharges to his son, in Mercer, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. He had $1.43 in effects (apparently cash), which was turned over to the Home treasurer. [source: 2]
