Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 6 inches tall, and had a light complexion, brown eyes, and dark hair (8).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 16 February 1864 (1, 8). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Shipley (8). He was mustered in by Lieutenant Hildebrand (8). He was a private in company D (1, 11).

On 19 February 1864, Sinex detailed him as clerk for the quartermaster (4). On 2 March 1864, Colonel Gregory detached him for duty with the recruiting service in Chester, Pennsylvania (2, 5). On 27 April 1864, Sinex asked that he be returned to the regiment (3).

On 20 [?] June 1864, he was detailed for duty in the division's commissary department (6).

On 1 August 1864, he returned to duty (9).

On 3 September 1864, he was detailed by Colonel Gregory as a clerk (7, 10).

He mustered out on 10 July 1865 with his company (1). He was a private, in company D (11).
