CARSON E. ANDIS DEAD

Carson E. Andis of about three and a half miles southwest of Pawnee passed away Wednesday evening about 8 o'clock, following an illness of three years, caused by tuberculosis.

Carson E. Andis was born in Indiana on November 10, 1858, being at the time of his death, 69 years, 8 months and 8 weeks [sic] of age. He has been a resident of this vicinity for many years, and is a member of the Methodist Protestant church of Pawnee. He is survived by his wife, Viola Andis; two brothers, Will Andis of Marble City, Okla., and Robert Andis, of Hiattville, Kan., and a foster son, George Andis, living on the home place. Two children and one foster child are deceased. The late Mrs. Baldwin (Sarah Diantha Andis) Barker of the Hiattville neighborhood was a sister of the deceased.

The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Protestant church, at which time the church was filled with the many friends and neighbors of the deceased. Several beautiful family floral pieces inscribed "Father," "Husband," and "Uncle," and tributes from the Sunday school and the neighbors expressed sympathy and esteem.

The Rev. Mr. Dixon, pastor of the church, conducted the services taking his text from Isaiah 33:24 "And the inhabitants shall not say I am sick." He stressed upon the theme of the value and importance of health.

The songs "Face to Face," "The Haven of Rest," which was the favorite song of the deceased, and "Jesus Loves Even Me," were sung by Mr. and Mrs. S.E. Graham and Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Coggnis, accompanied by Mrs. I.E. Morrison.

The interment was made in the Marian cemetery, southwest of Redfield, with the following gentlemen serving as pall bearers: Perry Dunn, James Sanderson, John Farmer, Dirwin Williams, Arthur Barker, and Lee Biddle.
