In 1830 census owned one female slave (age "10-24").
In 1840 census owned one female slave (age "10-24").
In 1843 was bondsman to marriage of Margaret Eliza and Greenup Blanton.
In the 1850 Slave Schedule census, he and Benjamin Jameson owned 15 slaves, of whom two are checked as "Fugitive from the state"
In 1860 census "Hyram Douthett" owned 7 slaves, M 30, F 24, M 18, M 8, M 5, M 3, F 6/12, in 2 slave houses. "46" listed in "Fugitives from state" column (i.e. one fugitive, the 46th in this enumeration).

Hiram had died by 1870, but in the Elliston Precinct of Madison Co. appears this black family Douthet, Amos 45, farm laborer, Agnes 40 keeping house, Sarah 16, Mariah 13, Elizabeth 11, Malinda 9, Sharlot 7, Lily 5, Wilson 4, Elza 3.
