DISTRIBUTION OF CAUSIER IN UK
Causier christenings in the IGI (left map)
are concentrated in the south of the west Midlands region,
with the largest number of occurrences in
Gloucestershire,
and with significant numbers
in Worcestershire and Warwickshire. There are very small
numbers in Shropshire, Staffordshire
and
Oxfordshire.
In the 1881 census (centre map) Causier is still present in
the west Midlands region, but the highest concentration
of occurrences is in the West Riding of Yorkshire. The name is
found in
significant numbers
in Staffordshire and Warwickshire, with smaller numbers in
Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Dorset and the North Riding of
Yorkshire.
The Millennium (right map) has seen the name spread into many
counties
of England, and also into Wales. The highest number of occurrences
is in West Yorkshire, with significant numbers in
Cleveland, South Yorkshire, Worcestershire and the new county of
West Midlands. |
