Augustus Huntington Edgerton
died at Hamden, New York on May 20, 1931. A copy of his death certificate was filed
with the New York State Department of Health (year 1931, certificate
#31414). Augustus was buried at Woodland Cemetery
in the village of Delhi, New
York, in the same plot were his parents were
previously buried. A family monument
there bears the following inscription:
“AUGUSTUS H. / EDGERTON / 1860 – 1931 / MINNIE E. / WANNAMACHER / HIS
WIFE / 1873 – 1963” (Two smaller
headstones bear identical dates.) On
two of the other sides of this family monument are inscriptions for Augustus’
parents, Charles and Mary, and for Augustus and Minnie’s two daughters who
died in infancy. Augustus’ sister,
Cora (Edgerton) Shaw, Cora’s husband, Daniel W. Shaw, and one of her sons,
Augustus H. Shaw, were also buried in the family plot.
