An Insane Man's Suicide

William Kensill, aged 65 years of 1507 East Montgomery avenue threw himself under the wheels of a freight train at the Port Richmond branch of the Reading Railroad at Frankford avenue and was instantly killed. Kensill had been suffering from softening of the brain, and had started out for a walk, attended by his daughter Sallie. The two, along with a number of other pedestrians stopped at the railroad crossing to await the passing of the train and according to Brakeman Delaney and other witnesses Kensill, who stood quietly until the greater part of the train has passed suddenly folded his arms and flung himself under the wheels of the rear car which passed over his body, crushing his life out.

What is thought to be the case of a deliberate suicide occurred yesterday forenoon when William Kensill, aged 65 , of 1507 East Montgomery avenue was run over and instantly killed by a coal train on the Reading Railroad at Frankford avenue. Witnesses of the affair say they saw the man standing alongside the tracks waiting for the train to approach.
As the train neared him he was seen to fold his arms and plunger in front of the cars. The wheels passed over his back almost cutting his body in two. Kensill had been suffering from paresis for some time. He had a wife and children.5,8,9,10,11
