YEAGERTOWN - John H. "Hal" Gibboney, 87, of 20 S. Locke Ave., Yeagertown, died at 1:20 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at Altoona General Hospital. Born Jan. 26, 1915, in Yeagertown, he was the son of the late James K. and Mabel M. (Yeager) Gibboney. His wife, Evelyn "Eve" (Fink) Gibboney, preceded him in death on Aug. 19, 2002. Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Ruby Mills of Port Matilda and Marion Slota of Rineyville, KY; and many nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. He was a graduate of Yeagertown High School. He was a self-employed merchant. He served in the National Guard and the U.S. Army. He was a member of Ellen Chapel Church, F&AM 203, Lewistown, and Fort Granville Grange, 1902. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Ellen Chapel Church, 11764 Ferguson Valley Road, Lewistown, with Rev. Mark Hill and Rev. Dean Rupe officiating. Interment will be in Holy Communion Lutheran Cemetery. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, where a Masonic Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Ellen Chapel Church, 11764 Ferguson Valley Road, Lewistown, PA 17044.
