William Frederick Rennie
William Frederick Rennie was born on 14 February 1812 at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 He is biographied in the Encyclopedia of Newfoundland and Labrador as follows:-

'RENNIE, WILLIAM FREDERICK (1812-1902). Miller; civil servant. Born Scotland, son of David Rennie. Educated Edinburgh University. Married (1) Caroline Williams; (2) Catharine Thorburn McNab. Rennie and his brother James came to Newfoundland in 1832, and established a flour mill on Rennie's River qv in St. John's. Beginning in 1835, Rennie's mill operated for several years, but in the long run could not compete with cheaper flour imported from Canada and the United States. After selling the mill in about 1848 Rennie became a civil servant, named to the largely ceremonial position of Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod in the Legislative Council. He held this position until his death and was for some time Newfoundland's oldest civil servant. Rennie was involved in the St. John's Agricultural Society for many years. He also sketched local scenes, with several of his works appearing in the Canadian Illustrated News. John Joy (1977), Newfoundland Historical Society (William Frederick Rennie). ACB.2'

He married Catherine Thorburn McNab, daughter of William McNab and Helen Gammell, on 26 September 1842 at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.3,4,5 William Frederick Rennie and Catherine Thorburn McNab had an announcement of their marriage published in the Newfoundlander transcribed: 'Bride was the only daughter of William M'Nab, accountant, from Glasgow, Scotland. Bogle - Roberts Wedding
Vere Frederick Bogle was born in 1866 at Brighton, Victoria, Australia; as the Son of Andrew Bogle and Helen Rennie.2,3 He was the son of Andrew Bogle and Helen Gemmil Rennie.1 Vere Frederick Bogle arrived at Plymouth, Devon, England, sailing from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, on the Oceana as Mr V F Bogle, transcribed as age 27 on 26 May 1891.4 He married Cecilia May Roberts on 6 April 1904 at St James' Cathedral, Townsville, Queensland, Australia.5,6 Vere Frederick Bogle and Cecilia May Roberts had a full report of their Wedding published on 11 April 1904 in The North Queensland Register and a transcript reads:

'On Wednesday afternoon, St. James'
pro-Cathedral, Townsville, was for the
second time that day the scene of a
large and fashionable assemblage,
when the marriage was solemnised of
Mr. Vere F. Bogle, manager of the
local branch of the Victorian Assur-
ance Company, to Miss Celia Roberts,
eldest daughter of Mrs. Roberts, "Ken-
ilworth, " and the late Mr. G. A. Rob-
erts, senior partner of the well-known
firm of Roberts, Leu and Barnett, sol-
icitors. The bride, who was given
away by Dr. Ahearne, as oldest friend
of the family, looked very graceful in
an exquisite costume of white silk mull
over glace ; the bodice had a deep yoke
of silk-embroidered chiffon. Her
bridal veil of delicate Brussels was ar-
ranged on the coiffure with a dia-
mond ornament and spray of
orange blossoms, and she carried a
lovely shower bouquet composed of
the choicest white blooms interspersed
with trails of maidenhair fern, the
artistic handiwork of Miss Gulliver.
The only bridesmaid was her sister,
Miss Gladys Roberts, who wore a
simple but effective frock of soft white
silk, and carried a pretty white
shower bouquet. The bride's mother,
Mrs. G. A. Roberts, was attired in a
becoming and handsome costume of
black silk voile relieved with touches
of white, the full undersleeves being of
white tucked chiffon, her dainty
black toque had clusters of liny Bank-
sia roses. Mr. Allen Jeffray attended
the bridegroom in the capacity of
best man. Amid the customary
shower of rice and rose leaves, the
bridal party drove out to "Kenil-
worth." where the daintiest refresh-
ments of every kind were served, the
chief feature being, of course, the wed-
ding cake, which was a magnificent
confection square in shape and three
tiers high, and ornamented with ap-
propriate symbols in a most artisic
manner. This was a local production,
being entirely the handiwork of the
clever instructress of the cooking De-
railment of the Technical College,
Miss M. Gordon. Numerous presents
of a costly character were received,
among them several cheques. It would
be impossible within the limited space
at command to do justice in descrip-
tion to the beautiful costumes worn
by the guests, among whom were:—
...7,5'

shower bouquet. The bride's mother,
Mrs. G. A. Roberts, was attired in a
becoming and handsome costume of
black silk voile relieved with touches
of white, the full undersleeves being of
white tucked chiffon, her dainty
black toque had clusters of liny Bank-
sia roses. Mr. Allen Jeffray attended
the bridegroom in the capacity of
best man. Amid the customary
shower of rice and rose leaves, the
bridal party drove out to "Kenil-
worth." where the daintiest refresh-
ments of every kind were served, the
chief feature being, of course, the wed-
ding cake, which was a magnificent
confection square in shape and three
tiers high, and ornamented with ap-
propriate symbols in a most artisic
manner. This was a local production,
being entirely the handiwork of the
clever instructress of the cooking De-
railment of the Technical College,
Miss M. Gordon. Numerous presents
of a costly character were received,
among them several cheques. It would
be impossible within the limited space
at command to do justice in descrip-
tion to the beautiful costumes worn
by the guests, among whom were:—
