A GOOD MAN GONE
On Thursday last Mr. Isaac Noyes, an aged and highly esteemed citizen of our city, departed this life. Mr. Noyes resided in Charleston for perhaps fifty years. He was eighty six years old when he died.

The West Virginia Journal
Wednesday, September 27, 1871

FUNERAL DISCOURSE
From a sermon delivered over the remains of Mr. Isaac Noyes, at the Presbyterian church in Charleston, West Virginia, on Sunday September 17, 1871, by Rev, J. C. Barr, Pastor.
Isaac Noyes was born in the state of New York on the 26th day of May 1785. He came here in the year 1804, when much of this valley was a wilderness and but one house marked the place where Charleston now stands. Before many years the youth of nineteen had gathered an estate with hands, and stood at the head of a household, with a family growing up around him. In the year 1828 the delicate health of one of his children induced him to remove to New Orleans. After a religious conversion he later returned to Charleston and became a ruling elder in the church. (Much more given of his religious life.)
