Cindy Quitta (née Hines) was born in Oregon City, Oregon in 1960 to William Omer Hines and Evelyn Marie Nosack. On her maternal grandfather's side, she is a descendant of Frank Martin Nosack (Ferencz Nossak) of Fakert, Hungary (Baumgarten in German; now Livada, Romania) and Marie Theresa Ditrich (Ditrik) of Vilagos, Hungary (Hellburg in German; now Siria, Romania). They immigrated as children to Gervais, Oregon in 1904 and 1905, where they met and married. So far, she has traced her ancestry back to Theresia Eva (née Gruber) and John Rauch of Neupanat, Hungary (Ujpanad in Hungarian; now Horia, Romania) on her maternal great-grandfather's side, to Anna (née Wirtz) and George Ditrik of Vilagos, Hungary on her paternal great-grandmother's side, and to John Steiner of Pankota, Hungary (now Pâncota, Romania) on her maternal great-grandmother's side. She is a senior technical writer for a software company. In 2005, she published the online English edition of the Commemorative Pages to mark the 150 Year Jubilee of the Parish Panatulnou (Neupanat) 1787-1937, which was translated into English by George Bretträger. To view the original German edition of the book, click here. This year, she expanded her web site by publishing her English translation of the Emigration to Argentina in 1929 and Return to Neupanat in 1934 from the original German edition by Norbert Lorenz. Despite having very little knowledge of the German language, she determined to translate this story for English speakers by using translation software, a German language forum, a German dictionary, and her German-speaking husband's editing skills. If you find significant errors in the translation, please contact her with corrections. To view the original German edition of the story, click here. In order to help fellow genealogists, she hopes to expand this web site to include more English language information on Neupanat and the surrounding Arad area of the Banat. If you have suggestions or submissions for this web site, please contact her. |
