He served on the city council for several years. He was in business with his son-in-law, Oscar Link, when the building burned in 1937. He died in 1947 and she several years before that. Amzy and Sarah Newton, parents of George, came in 1892. The other children, Lige, Erv, Altie, Emery, Bert, Curt, John, Ettie, and Florence (F Baker) came with them. They returned to Iowa.)
