Asa Morris

Glen Ellen - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow for Asa Morris, 72, who died Sunday in a Sonoma rest home.

Mr. Morris was a native of Kansas. He livd in the Sonoma Valley 15 years, making his home at 13360 Arnold Dr., Glen Ellen.

He was a veteran of World War II, and a retired employee of Sonoma State Hospital's dairy farm.

He is survived by his wife, Marthina Morris, Glen Ellen, and his children, Hazel Gehring, Florence Buss, and Howard Isaacson all of Wisconsin, Ira Isaccson, Modesto and Mary Fincher, Healdsburg; his sister, Nora Wooden [sic], Santa Barbara, Pearl Amos, Arkansas, and Lorraine Riddle, San Jose.

Services will be at Duggan's Mission Chapel with the Rev. Moffatt Dennis officiating. Burial will be at Oak Mound Cemetery in Healdsburg.

Audrey Marshall

Longtime Vallejo resident Audrey Morris Marshall, 81, died Tuesday, June 15, in Scotts Valley after a long battle with cancer.

Audrey, the daughter of Delbert and Anna Gyhra Morris, was born in Wymore, Neb., on Feb. 24, 1923. She attended public schools there until 1936, when the family moved to Hastings, Neb. Audrey graduated from Hastings High in 1940 and attended Hastings College until 1943.

In 1943, she won a scholarship from Curtis-Wright Corp. to attend a 10-month accelerated aeronautical engineering program at the University of Minnesota. After completing this program, Audrey worked as an engineer at Curtis-Wright until the end of World War II.

After the war, Mrs. Marshall completed her bachelor of science at Purdue University and moved to San Jose. In 1950, she married the late Donald Marshall and moved to Vallejo, where she has lived ever since.

She worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for eight years before becoming a teacher's aide for the Vallejo City Unified School District for 25 years.

Mrs. Marshall retired from the school district in 1999; she was an active member of the Genealogy Society of Vallejo-Benicia.

She is survived by her daughter, Alexa Nafke of San Jose; son, Douglas Marshall of Scotts Valley; grandchildren, Adam and Megan Nafke and James and John Marshall; sister, Norma Wilden of Hastings, Neb.; and brother, Robert Morris of San Jose.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, Vallejo. A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, also at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sunrise Memorial Cemetery, Vallejo.
