At the annual town meetings held in March of each year, three Commissioners of Common Schools were elected as well as three Inspectors of Commons Schools, as outlined under the New York State guidelines for school districts. The term of office ran for one year, April thru March. The pay for this service was seventy-five cents per day. At the March 3, 1835 town meeting the rate was increased to $1.00 per day.
