Joel Cooper was born circa 1810 in Virginia.1
He was the son of Mary (?).2
Joel married Margaret (?).2
Joel and Margaret may have had numerous children but I only know the name of one child, John.
Joel, age 40, was enumerated in the household of his suspected mother, Mrs. Mary Cooper, on the 1850 Federal Census in District #24, Hampshire County, Virginia. Joel (age 40), Margaret (age 34), John (age 13) and Benjamin McCauley (age 18). I am guessing about the relationship between Mary (grandmother), Joel (son), Margaret (daughter-in-law) and John (grandson). They may all be Mary's children. This will need more work to straighten out. Mary lives next door to Elizabeth (Cooper) Milslagle who also lives near her brother-in-law, Abraham Milslagle.2
Joel worked as a farmer. His real estate was valued at $1500.2
