CASTAGNETTO-ENOS March 26, 1892 Mariposa Gazette
I am pleased to announce a most interesting event that occurred in our midst. A wedding, a happy occasion to brighten the gloom which hung over our firesides some months ago. Mr. Joseph CASTAGNETTO was united in wedlock to Miss Mary ENOS, both of Hunter's Valley, on the 21st inst. The ceremony was performed by J. L. SMITH, J.P., the bride was charmingly attired. After the ceremony was over, a sumptuous repast was partaken of. Various toasts were made of happiness and prosperity to the newly wedded pair. The bride received a few presents. It was a very quiet wedding, relatives and intimate friends only, present, owing to the grooms late bereavement.

Mariposa Gazette, 28 Sep 1907: DEATH OF JOSEPH CASTAGNETTO
Joseph Castagnetto died at the Castagnetto Ranch in Hunter’s Valley last Tuesday afternoon. The deceased was a comparatively young man. He was born in Bear Valley about forty-eight years ago, and was the son of Dominic and Mary Castagnetto, and we believe his entire life has been spent in this county.
He bore an excellent reputation wherever he was known, and was a good citizen and an honest, upright man, and it is said of him that he never had an enemy.
From early manhood he followed mining as an occupation, and like many another, fell a victim of that dread disease, miners’ consumption.
He leaves a widow and six small children, two brothers, John and Dan Castagnetto, and three sisters, Mrs. J. Cademartori, Mrs. David Lord and Mrs. George Dulcich to mourn his untimely demise.
Deceased was a member of the I.O.O.F. of Bear Valley, under whose auspices the funeral was conducted.
In the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Bear Valley the remains were laid to rest with befitting ceremony on Thursday afternoon, surrounded by relatives and friends who mourned his early death. His funeral was the largest attended in Bear Valley for many years.
