It is unusual to see an over-40 woman having children in SC in the 18th century, but I can think of a few who did: rare, but possible. Ann Theiler may be somewhat younger than assumed. The Theilers had three children in SC by 1746 (per land petition), but there is no particular reason to believe that Ann was among them, or that they had no later children. Since she was married to Jacob Geiger by 1765 (per a deed signed by both), she was born no later than 1750. Her second husband, William Geiger, was born AFTER 1746, since that's when his godmother Rosina Roth (later Manning, then Hamilton) first arrived in SC. While men occasionally married an older wife, this was very uncommon. A birthyear of ~1748-9 for Ann Theiler would be compatible with her first marriage by 1765, the post-1746 birthdate of her second husband, and also with her having a child as late as 1795. - Caroline T.
