By 1891, Hannah had moved from Grimsby to live with her cousin Phyllis HAWKETT and her family at 27 King Street, Great Crosby, Liverpool. Phyllis (née SALSBURY) was a daughter of Hannah's mother's sister Phyllis, who had been living near them in Grimsby in 1881 and herself moved to Waterloo, Great Crosby, in 1901. After her marriage, Hannah and her family also lived in Waterloo.

In 1901 and 1911, she was living with her husband and daughter at 12 Tower Road, Paignton.

In 1911, Fanny and John had a visitor Fanny Elizabeth PALMER, who may have been her stepfather's granddaughter (called Fanny FREER in 1891).

Fanny married  William PALMER in 1892. William was born in 1862 in Paignton, the son of gardener William PALMER and his wife Mary née GOUGH. As far as it is possible to tell, he was not related to Fanny's stepfather's first wife, Elizabeth PALMER.
William was a postman.

8.10 Caroline Louisa TUCKER (Thomas (2) TUCKER , John (2) TUCKER , Thomas (3) TUCKER , John (7) TUCKER , Thomas (5) TUCKER , John TUCCAR , Gilbert TUCKER) was born on 29 May 1864 in Dartmouth, Devon, and died in Paignton on 13 Feb 1938.

Before her marriage, Caroline was an agricultural dairymaid living with and working for her grandparents James & Grace POPE in Croter's Hill (now Crowther's Hill), Dartmouth.

After her marriage, Caroline lived at first in Lower Street, in the same building as her husband's parents and business, moving to "Orcana", 15 Newcomin Road, Dartmouth, in 1897. Caroline served in the shop and art gallery attached to her husband's workshop. After Charles's death in 1918, she announced that she intended to continue his painting business. But in 1920 she sold it and used the shop as a draper's.

Caroline's bible records the dates (and many times) of birth of all her children and the eight of her nine grandchildren who were born before she died.

According to a notice in the Dartmouth Chronicle, Caroline died at the home of her daughter Ivy at Shoreton Valley Road, Preston, Paignton. The funeral service took place at Preston Baptist Church, but she was buried at Dartmouth Cemetery.

Caroline married Charles Frederick MITCHELMORE, son of Dartmouth painter and decorator Nathaniel MICHAMORE and his wife Elizabeth née HOLE and himself a painter, on 24 Nov 1887 in the Congregational Church, Paignton. An announcement appeared in the Dartmouth Chronicle. Charles was born on 28 Dec 1867 in Torquay, Devon, and died on 28 Apr 1918 in Dartmouth. For further details on Charles and his family history, as well as information on Caroline and Charles's descendants, please transfer to the MITCHELMORE line.

No trace of William has been found in the 1891 or 1901 censuses––he was probably at sea––but in 1911 he was living with his wife and children in Dartmouth.

In World War 1, he became Petty Officer 1st Class 118635 on the battleship HMS Goliath. In April 1915, the ship was sent to the Dardanelles to support the ill-fated Gallipolli landings. On 13 May 1915, she was sunk by 3 torpedoes fired from the Turkish torpedo boat Muavanet-i-Miliet which was commanded by a German officer at the time. 570 of her complement, including William, were lost. In 1901, she was back in Dartmouth and living with her children Florence and William. In 1915 and 1930, she was recorded as living at "Culloden," Higher Victoria Road, Dartmouth.

According to her father's obituary, in 1930 she and her family were living at "Lauraville", Yately (just over the border in Hampshire).

In 1881, Bob was a farm labourer living with his parents at Main Street, Somersham, Huntingdonshire. This must have been a temporary job, because gas manufacture was in the family: His father, his uncle and his grandfather were all gas engineers in the Cambridge area. For some reason, Bob's entry into the gas business brought him to Dartmouth, where he was recorded as a gas stoker in 1891. By 1901, he had progressed to the status of gas engineer.
