When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 11 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, grey eyes, and dark b[rown?] hair (5).
He enlisted and was mustered into service on 21 November 1861 (1, 5, 8). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Gilbert (5). He was a private, in company G (1, 9).
He was promoted to seventh corporal on 3 September 1862 (4).
He was killed on 3 July 1863 at the battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8). He was a corporal, in company G (1, 9). He was buried in Montgomery Cemetery, Norristown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (2, 7, 8).
