My Great-Grear-Grandfather James,3 JAYNE was the first born of
Henry,2 JAYNE and wife Abigail WHEELER, near Goshen, Orange County, New York, on the 14th.
of March 1774. A few days [9 ] later on March 23rd, 1774 Patrick HENRY addressed the revolutionary convention in
Richmond, Va., with the famous exclamation: "
Give me liberty or give me death!"
James,3 JAYNE was the oldest of the eleven children, and at the age of 9 years (1783) his family moved from Orange Co., NY. to Washington Co. Virginia, where he was raised to manhood.
