BENJAMIN and ESSIE DORIS SOUTHALL is SAMUEL PAUL SOUTHALL, born June 7,
1916. On March 24, 1945, he was married to MRS. BETTY RECTOR, who was
born on January 26, 1916. They have a son, SAM WAYNE, born April 2,
1948 and a daughter, SANDRA KAY, who was born June 15, 1951. The family
resides at {address removed for privacy}, Jacksonville, Florida.
7.e. The fifth child of JOSEPH
BENJAMIN and ESSIE DORIS SOUTHALL is JOSEPH BENJAMIN SOUTHALL, JR., who
was born April 24, 1919 and was married on April 27, 1941 to FRANCES
NOLAN, born on Sept. 3, 1919. To this union was born twelve children:

eldest, JAMES FRANKLIN SOUTHALL, born Feb. 27, 1942, was married on
June 16, 1965, to Rachel Lorene Coody. They had one child, JERRY
SOUTHALL, born Sept. 8, 1966. They were divorced the same year. JAMES
FRANKLIN SOUTHALL now resides in Norcross, Ga.
7.e.(2) The
second child is SHARRON DIANNE, born on Feb. 8, 1946. She was married
in 1964 to FRANK E. GRAY. They have two sons, FRANK E. GRAY, III, born
July 2, 1965, and JOSEPH BENJAMIN GRAY, born Nov. 17, 1966. They live
at {address removed for privacy}, Flint, Michigan. The other ten
children whose names and birth dates are listed below, make their home
with their parents at {address removed for privacy}, Lake Forest,
Jacksonville, Florida:

JOSEPH BENJAMIN SOUTHALL, SR., died on May 7, 1956 and ESSIE DORIS
SOUTHALL died on February 22, 1961. They are buried in New Redland
Cemetery.
8. The eighth child of SAMUEL H. AND MARY SOUTHALL
was JOHN ROBERT SOUTHALL, born January 21, 1886 and was married on May
10, 1916 to ELIZABETH RENA NEWSOME, who was born January 9, 1891. To
this union, four children were born; ADA OVELIA, JEWEL RAE, MARY PEARL
and JACK ROBERT SOUTHALL.

8.a. ADA OVELIA SOUTHALL was born
April 4, 1917 (family) and was married on August 12, 1939 to DON LAWS
MELTON, who was born on February 21, 1908. They have one son, DON LAWS
MELTON, JR., born December 6, 1941, who resides with his parents at
{address removed for privacy}, Greenville, North Carolina and one
daughter, VIRGINIA ANN MELTON, born April 24, 1943, and was married on
December 26, 1964 to DARRELL WAYNE HURST, who was born February
22, 1968. They reside in Staunton, Virginia.
8.b. JEWELL RAE SOUTHALL was born
July 31, 1919. In September, 1939, she was married to CHARLES GLENN
SCAFF. They had one son, CHARLES GLENN SCAFF, JR., born February 24,
1943, who was married on August 3, 1968 to CARMEN DIAL WOODS and a
daughter, MARSHA RAE SCAFF, born November 24, 1944. JEWEL RAE and
CHARLES GLENN SCAFF, SR. were divorced in March, 1963. He died on March
26, 1964 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Florida.
The above SCAFFS live in Jacksonville, Florida.
8.c. MARY PEARL SOUTHALL was born
on July 21, 1924 and was married on January 6, 1943 to CHARLES E. WANN,
who was born January 21, 1912. They have two daughters and one son:
PHYLLIS JEAN, DOROTHY ANN and PFC. CHARLES R. WANN.
8.c.(1) PHYLLIS
JEAN WANN was born November 10, 1946 and was married on April 23, 1965
to GLENN JENNINGS, who was born December 16, 1944. They have one
daughter, JENNIFER ANN JENNINGS, born October 23, 1965, and they live
in Huntsville, Alabama 35805.
8.c.(2) DOROTHY
ANN WANN, born December 4, 1943, was married on March 12, 1965 to
CHARLES L. DRAKE, who was born on December 31, 1935. He is deceased.
8.c.(3) PFC.
CHARLES R. WANN was born on January 1, 1948. (In service in Germany)
Home address is Huntsville, Alabama.
8.d. JACK ROBERT SOUTHALL
was born on May 15, 1931, was married on June 2, 1957 to JEWELL LEE
LEWIS, who was born March 16, 1932. This couple have one daughter,
ELLEN JEWELL SOUTHALL, born on August 14., 1959. They reside at
{address removed for privacy}, Tarpon Springs, Florida. JOHN ROBERT
SOUTHALL died on July 15, 1961 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in
Jasper, Florida. His wife, ELIZABETH RENA SOUTHALL, makes her home with
her daughter, ADA OVELIA MELTON, {address removed for privacy},
Greenville, North Carolina.

9. The ninth child of SAMUEL H. and MARY SOUTHALL was
MAGGIE SOUTHALL who was born in the late 1880s and was married around
1912 or 1913 to HOMER DAVIS. They had one daughter, COMER DAVIS, who is
now married to ARMOND E. REED, resides at {address removed for
privacy}, Miami, Florida 33143. They have a daughter whose name is not
available, but is married and lives in New York. HOMER DAVIS died in
the early fifties and MAGGIE SOUTHALL DAVIS, his wife, died on November
16, 1968. They are both buried in Homestead, Florida, where they had
made their home for several years.
10. The tenth child of SAMUEL and MARY SOUTHALL is
ADA SOUTHALL. She was born on September 30, 1890 and was married in
1914 to WILLIAM THOMAS COTHRON, born September 29, 1885. He died on
March 10, 1957. They had an adopted son, STANFORD COTHRON, who was born
in 1913 and died in 1930. WILLIAM THOMAS and STANFORD COTHRON are
buried in New Redland Cemetery. On July 15, 1962, ADA SOUTHALL COTHRON
married HORACE A. POWELL, born September 8, 1895. They live on their
farm on {address removed for privacy}, Valdosta, Georgia.
FRANK SOUTHALL’S DESCENDANTS

Frank Southall’s dates are not currently available, as the family Bible
is in the possession of the divorced wife of Frank’s grandson, Joseph
Byford Southall, Jr.
According to Mrs. Minnie Southall, daughter-in-law of Frank Southall,
he married Mariah Lowe of Macon, Georgia, date and place not known. To
this union were born several children, none of whom lived to adulthood,
except Joe Byford (Tuck) Southall.
Frank Southall, and presumably his wife, Mariah, are buried in New
Redland Cemetery where also are buried his brothers, Samuel and Andrew.
The graves of Frank, Mariah, and Andrew are unmarked and are, according
to family information, all in a plot adjoining that of Samuel and Mary
Southall. The genealogical data of Frank Southall’s descendants is as
follows:
JOE BYFORD SOUTHALL (son of FRANK SOUTHALL) was born in 1874 and was
married in 1898 to MINNIE KINSEY, who was born on January 18, 1882. He
died in 1955 and is buried in Old Columbia Primitive Baptist Churchyard
at Nankin, Georgia, in the eastern part of Brooks County, Georgia near
the Florida State line, which is between Quitman, Georgia and Madison,
Florida. His wife, MINNIE SOUTHALL, now lives within sight of Old
Columbia Church.
They had twelve children by this marriage who are, though not
necessarily in order of their birth: JOSEPH FRANK, EULA, WARREN
RUSSELL, EDDIE LEE, BESSIE, FLETA MAE, an unnamed son who died one week
after birth, MYRTLE, JENNIE, JOSIE, EARLE and JOSEPH BYFORD SOUTHALL,
JR.
JOSEPH FRANK SOUTHALL, first child of JOE BYFORD and MINNIE SOUTHALL
was born on April 12, 1901 and was married to LORENE THOMAS whom he
later divorced. They had three children, JOSEPH FRANK SOUTHALL, JR.,
JAMES and JEANETTE SOUTHALL. JOSEPH FRANK SOUTHALL, SR., lives on
{address removed for privacy}, Quitman, Georgia. JOSEPH FRANK SOUTHALL,
JR., is married (wife’s name unavailable) and lives on {address removed
for privacy}, Valdosta, Georgia. They have three children: DAVID,
DONNIE and DIANNE SOUTHALL. JAMES SOUTHALL married ANNIE RUTH HODGE and
they have three children, a son, JIMMIE SOUTHALL and two daughters,
SHERYL and SHARON SOUTHALL and the family lives in Orlando, Florida.
JEANETTE SOUTHALL is married to LEON DASHER and this couple have one
son, DALE SOUTHALL. Their home is in Valdosta, Georgia.
The second child of JOSEPH BYFORD and MINNIE SOUTHALL was EULA SOUTHALL
who died as a small child and is buried in old Columbia Churchyard.
Their third child was WARREN RUSSELL SOUTHALL who has never married and
now lives on {address removed for privacy}, Quitman, Georgia. Then
there is EDDIE LEE SOUTHALL who also has remained single and lives on
{address removed for privacy}, Quitman, Georgia. FLETA MAE SOUTHALL
died quite young, as did an unnamed son and a daughter BESSIE SOUTHALL,
who died at the age of 1 year and ten months. All three are buried in
Old Columbia Churchyard.
MYRTLE SOUTHALL is married to C. B. BATES and they do not have any
children. They live on {address removed for privacy}, Chattahoochee,
Florida. JENNIE SOUTHALL is married to ALBERT BOLTS and they live in
Fernandina Beach, Florida. They have three children, GERALD, MARY and
PAUL BOLTS. GERALD BOLTS married EVA LEE ANDERSON. They have no
children and also live in Fernandina Beach, Florida. MARY BOLTS married
DON DOWLING and they have three girls, JENNIE, HELEN and JOYCE BOWLING
{sic - ? s/b Dowling}. This family make their home in Eufaula, Alabama.
The next child of JOSEPH BYFORD and MINNIE SOUTHALL is JOSIE SOUTHALL
who is married to FRED HERNDON and lives in Barwick, Georgia. They have
four children by this marriage, WAYNE HERNDON who lives in Alaska. He
is married to GLENDA ARNOLD. They have no children. JO ANN HERNDON is
married but

her husband's name is unavailable. They live in Quincy, Florida. JIM
HERNDON who is unmarried and is now in service in Viet Nam and DAVID
HERNDON, a small child who makes his home with his parents.
Another son of JOSEPH BYFORD and MINNIE SOUTHALL was EARLE SOUTHALL,
who died at the age of forty-two, after eighteen years of being U. S.
Service connected. He is buried in Old Columbia Churchyard. The
youngest child of JOSEPH BYFORD and MINNIE SOUTHALL is JOSEPH BYFORD
SOUTHALL, JR., who is married to SARAH JOHNSON. They have a daughter,
DIANNE SOUTHALL, who is married, but her husband’s name was not
available at this time. The above four persons reside at {address
removed for privacy}, WALHALLA, South Carolina.
