TEEN ON BICYCLE HURT AFTER HITTING 2 VEHICLES

Heather SMITH, 15, of 3851 Brandeis Ave, Bethlehem Township, was treated at Muhlenberg Hospital Center and released Thursday night after her bicycle hit two vehicles on William Penn Highway about 500 feet west of Farmersville Road in the township. SMITH told police she was traveling west on William Penn Highway shortly before 9:30 p.m. and saw a car in front of her. According to police, the bicyclist struck a vehicle operated by William O. SLOYER, Bethlehem R. 7, and another westbound vehicle operated by Carl A. BOSCIA, 3811 Camden St., Easton.

Dr. William O. Sloyer Dr. William O. Sloyer, 81, of Bethlehem, died Monday, November 19, 2007, in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Bette L. (Robinson) Sloyer, who died in 1996. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Roscoe and Alma (Brunner) Sloyer. A 1944 graduate of Liberty High School, he received his bachelors degree from Moravian College in 1950, and both doctor of dental medicine and doctor of dental surgery degrees from the University of Pittsburgh in 1954. Following a residency at Chronic Disease Hospital of Brooklyn (N.Y.), he established a private dental practice in Bethlehem in 1955, where he practiced until 1991. He served as director of the dental clinic at Muhlenberg Hospital from 1991 to 1995. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific theatre. Dr. Sloyer was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical Congregational Church, Bethlehem, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, chairman of the pastoral relations committee, and on the ministry council. Survivors: Two sons, Gary and his wife Sandra of Fountain Hill, Kenneth and his wife Christine of Bethlehem Township; two sisters, Esther Zettlemoyer of Bethlehem, Ruth Leamy of Spring City; two stepgrandchildren, Jimmy and Megan Schnettler. Bette L. SLOYER, 67, of Bethlehem, died Saturday, Oct. 12, in St. luke's Hospital. She was the wife of Dr. William O. SLOYER for 38 years.

She was most recently employed as a secretary for Emmanuel Evangelical Congregational Church, where she was a member, and Calvary Baptist Church, both of Bethlehem. Many years ago she worked for the former Western Electric Co., Allentown.

Born in Little California, Bucks County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence C. and Julia (FALER) ROBINSON.

Survivors: Husband, sons, Gary, Stephen of Bethlehem and Kenneth Evan of Bath; brother Orval M. of Easton, and sisters Julia ROHR of Lancaster and Opel RECCEK of Allentown.

She worked for twenty-two and on half years for the Montgomery County Juvenile and Adult Court Systems in many significant capacities. She retired in 1988 to further enjoy life and share more time with her loved ones. She was a confirmed member of Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, 8200 West National Road, New Carlisle, OH 45344 (Route 40, one mile West of Donnelsville). Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 5550 Munger Road, Dayton, OH 45459 or the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital c/o The Shrine Temple, 107 East First Street, Dayton, OH 45402.
