Dr. William O. Sloyer Dr. William O. Sloyer, 81, of Bethlehem, died Monday, November 19, 2007, in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Bette L. (Robinson) Sloyer, who died in 1996. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Roscoe and Alma (Brunner) Sloyer. A 1944 graduate of Liberty High School, he received his bachelors degree from Moravian College in 1950, and both doctor of dental medicine and doctor of dental surgery degrees from the University of Pittsburgh in 1954. Following a residency at Chronic Disease Hospital of Brooklyn (N.Y.), he established a private dental practice in Bethlehem in 1955, where he practiced until 1991. He served as director of the dental clinic at Muhlenberg Hospital from 1991 to 1995. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific theatre. Dr. Sloyer was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical Congregational Church, Bethlehem, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, chairman of the pastoral relations committee, and on the ministry council. Survivors: Two sons, Gary and his wife Sandra of Fountain Hill, Kenneth and his wife Christine of Bethlehem Township; two sisters, Esther Zettlemoyer of Bethlehem, Ruth Leamy of Spring City; two stepgrandchildren, Jimmy and Megan Schnettler.
