Mr. Dellinger, age 87, of Charlotte, died November 24, 2004 at Charlotte Health Care. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 PM Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at McEwen Charlotte Chapel with a graveside service to follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery at 3:00 PM with Doctor Gerald J. Bearden officiating.

Mr. Dellinger was born September 17, 1917 in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Meek George and Gillie Ann Malcom. He was a member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church, The Men's Bible Class and retired in 1979 after 43 years with International Harvester as Stock Controller. He also served as a volunteer with the American Red Cross.

Surviving are his son, Carl Osborne Dellinger and wife, Edith, of Charlotte; daughter, Joyce Dellinger Benfield of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Ike Dellinger, Trina Ward, Cherlene Stout and James Andrew Benfield; and great grandchildren, Ethan Stout and Abigail Stout. Mr. Dellinger was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Gilbert Hucks Dellinger.

His nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to Camp Lurcrest, c/o Garr Memorial Church, 7700 Wallace Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.

He was buried in August 1907 at Anderson Chapel Cemetery, Unicoi Co., Tennessee.

"James R. Dellinger

James R. Dellinger, 77, of Fort Myers, Fla., and a former resident of Shrewsbury, died Monday afternoon at Fort Myers Community Hospital.

He was the husband of Hazel Bankert Dellinger.

Mr. Dellinger was a son of the late June and Vertie Sigman Dellinger.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Shrewsbury, and was a member of Littlestown Fraternal Order of Elks. Mr. Dellinger was also a retired barber.

Survivors include:

Two daughters - Mrs. Margaret Stone, Atlanta, and Mrs. Francis Dean, Charlotte, N.C.

One son - Jimmy Dellinger, Charlotte.

Five brothers and five sisters.

Mourners will meet at 9:45 a.m. Monday at Littles Funeral Home, Littlestown, and leave in procession to Lake View Cemetery, near Edlersburg, Md., where graveside services will be conducted.
