Elizabeth Slagle, circa 1855. Leah Dessenberg died on 17 January 1917 at
York Co., Pennsylvania. She was New Tag Obituary from a Jan 18, 1917 York newspaper:
"MRS. LEAH SHEPP
Mrs. Leah Shepp, eighty-seven years old, widow of John Shepp, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jacob A. Free, 444 Park street, yesterday morning at 5:25 o'clock. Death resulted from a paralytic stroke, which Mrs. Shepp suffered on Friday. She had been an invalid for the last year and a half, and had resided at the home of her daughter for ten years prior to her death. She is a native of Springets. The deceased is survived by one son, John W. Shepp, of Spring Grove; three daughters, Mrs. Frank Dellinger, Mrs. Henry Strickler and Mrs. Jacob A. Free, all of this city, and a brother, William Desenberger, of Starview. There are also surviving her eighteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at the United Brethren church at Springets, after a brief preliminary service at the home of her daughter at 9:30 next Friday morning. Rev. A.A. Long, pastor of the First United Brethren church, will officiate. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the Springets church. The funeral will be in charge of Undertakes Sleeger and Sons."
