David was born at
York Co., Pennsylvania, on 28 November 1845. He was the son of
John Pfaff and
Magdalena Gohn. He was inducted into the military on 16 February 1864. He married
Lydia Howard on 2 November 1865. David was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census at
Lower Windsor Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania. He purchased land in 1881 at
York Co., Pennsylvania. David Poff was a member of the I.O.O.F. and the G.A.R. He filled the offices of supervisor and school director for three years. He was a stockholder and director of the Chanceford Turnpike Company. He served as a juryman of the supreme court in Philadelphia and had been sent to the county convention three times, and was fives time on the county committee. He died on 1 November 1897 at
York Co., Pennsylvania, at age 51. He was buried in November 1897 at
Canadochly Cemetery, Lower Windsor Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania.
