     Robert Simonton was born between 1718 and 1722; Several sources state that Robert Simonton was born 19 July 1726 in Rowan (now Iredell) Co., North Carolina.

A couple of sources state that instead of Robert, his name was John, and that John was a son or grandson of Theophilus Simonton. I doubt this theory. He married Margaret (?). Robert Simonton died between 1786 and 1799 at South Carolina.

He made a will at Tipton Co., Tennessee, on 14 September 1859. Robert died on 12 November 1862 at Salem, Tipton Co., Tennessee, at age 76.
