Mary Ann Hallinan, 75, of Clinton, passed away, Monday, November 21, 2016 at Mercy Living Center – South.

Mary Ann Hallinan was born on April 8, 1941 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Helen (Houghton) Hallinan. She was a 1959 graduate of St. Mary’s High School, and later graduated from Saint Ambrose School of Nursing in 1963.

Mary Ann was a registered nurse at Mercy for 35 years retiring in 2003. She served as the 3-11 house supervisor and Assistant Director of Nursing during her career at Mercy. She was also a nurse at the Alverno for several years.

Mary Ann was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, served on the St. Mary’s Cemetery board from 2000-2008, former St. Mary’s Parish Council, Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, and the Prince of Peace Auxiliary. She was formerly active in the national and state nursing associations serving as state secretary for many years.

Mary Ann is survived by her sister-in-law: Ruby Hallinan of Keokuk a special daughter: Debbie Samuelson of Lakewood, California, and her god son: Jamie Samuelson of Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Leo in 2010, and her sister Fran in 2014.

Robert Hauser, age 92, of Lakewood, CA, passed away in the comfort of his home early in the morning of Thursday, August 22, 2019 while in care of his loving family and hospice.

Bob will return to the kindred soil of his upbringing. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Hauser Cemetery near Whitten, IA. There will be no visitation. Full military honors will be bestowed.

Robert was born at Whitten, Iowa, on October 22, 1926, he was the son of Howard and Verna Hauser. He graduated from the Whitten High School in 1944 and later AIB in Des Moines. Bob helped his uncle, Lloyd Hauser, farm. He served our country honorably in the United States Navy.

On June 15, 1952, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Betty Jane Houghton, while helping work with his dad. The young couple made their home in Iowa City (where he served as auditor), Kansas City and later California. Mr. Hauser was in retail for many years before retirement. Even though he made a living on the west coast, Whitten was still home, as he ventured here many times during those years.

Left to cherish his memory are Betty, his loving wife of 67 years; children: Debbie (Carl) Danner, David Hauser and Diana (Mike) Wise all in California; grandchildren: Chad Danner, Sarah Wise, Jason Wise and Aaron Hauser; sister, Winifred Crosley; brother-in-law, Don D. (Delores) Hauser of Union and many nieces and nephews.

In death, he rejoined his parents and sister, Louise.

Obituary

Donald Hauser, age 90, of Whitten, left this earthly life on the night of Sunday, July 3rd. This kind and gentle man who knew no strangers was ushered into heaven with Delores at his side.

Funeral services at the Whitten Community Church with Pastor Jim Hartman officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Hauser Cemetery – right next door to the house he was born in. Memorials may be directed to the Whitten Community Church or the Hauser Cemetery.

Born on June 13th, 1932, on the Sunshine Farm near Whitten, he was the son of Walter and Gladys (Reece) Hauser. He graduated from the Whitten High School in 1948 and played semi-pro baseball.

On October 12th, 1952, he married Delores Houghton, at the Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. The young couple made Whitten their home, first on the Sunshine farm established by his grandfather, and then the current home in 1982. Don was proud of his heritage and the abilities God gave him to farm alongside his son, Dan. The Sunshine farm was also home to Funk's G Hybrid Corn.

Mr. Hauser was a faithful member, Sunday school superintendent and elder of the Whitten Christian Church (later the Community Church). He also was a member of the Union Kiwanis, the Heart of Iowa Telephone board, organizing Whitten class reunions, and trustee of Hauser Cemetery. For the Whitten Centennial, he and Delores had the honor of serving as grand-marshals and being "Mr. and Mrs. Whitten."

Surviving are Delores, his wife of nearly 70 years; his children Denise (Gary) Lynk of Marshalltown and Dan (Cindy) Hauser of Whitten; grandchildren, Katy Lynk, Josh (Beth) Hauser along with children Gracie, Jace, Addy, Cecilia, Landry and Myla, Kyle Hauser (Jen McLarney), Megan Hauser (Taylor Simons) and Marcie (Brendan) Happel along with children Paisley and Cason; step-grandchildren- Matt (Laura) Lindberg along with Colton and Aubrey, Erika (Aaron) Nightingale along with Cora, Kyla and Keaton, and Katy (Josh) Siesen; sister-in-law Ann Hauser of Conrad; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In death, Don rejoined his parents Walter and Gladys; daughter-in-law Rebecca Hauser; in-laws Clem and Sara Houghton; brother Dale Hauser; sister Donna Mae Barnard; and nephew, Lynn B. Hauser.

When Don was asked what he wanted people to know in his obituary, he said this "Make Jesus Christ the center of your life every day."
